Locke And Key Season 3: Release Date Status, Cast, And All Latest News

Locke And Key Season 3: This month, Netflix will say goodbye to another show. Unlike so many others, the fantasy drama Locke and Key will end on its own terms, rather than just being canceled. The series is based on the graphic novels by Joe Hill, who is the son of Stephen King. It tells the story of a family that moves across the country to their ancestral home after a violent event in their lives.

As Tyler (Connor Jessup), Kinsey (Emilia Jones), and Bode (Jackson Robert Scott), three siblings, get used to living in the grand old Keyhouse, they start to find magical keys that give the person who uses their superpowers.

But the huge power of these objects draws the attention of some bad people, so the Locke children have to become an important line of defense against the evil they would bring into the world. In season 3, they will fight mostly against Frederick Gideon (Kevin Durand), a British Army captain from the time of the American Revolution whose soul was made even eviler by a demon from behind the Black Door.

Read on to find out what we know so far about Locke and Key season 3 on Netflix if you can’t wait to go back to Matheson for more magical chaos.

Locke And Key Season 3 Release Date

Locke & Key Season 3 will be available to stream on Netflix on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. All eight episodes will be available at once, so you can watch them all in one sitting.

The fantasy show was given a renewal in advance for December 2020, according to Deadline. This means that the second and third seasons can be shot back-to-back, making up for the time lost during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

In August 2021, Locke and Key star Darby Stanchfield posted on Instagram that filming for season 3 was done. He also showed us some of the keys we can expect to see in the last episode.

The second season came out two months later, in October 2021. The cliffhanger ending set the stage for this final chapter and gave the Locke family a new, scary enemy to fight.

Is season 3 The Last One Of Locke And Key?

The Netflix show Locke and Key is coming to an end after its third season.

But, compared to other US dramas, this one has had a short run. Fans can take comfort in the fact that the show is ending on its own terms with a pre-planned ending, which should help viewers feel like they’ve come full circle.

In a statement, executive producers Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill said, “Once we started working on the series, we thought three seasons would be the right amount of time to tell the story of the Locke family and their adventures at Keyhouse.”

“As storytellers, we’re glad we got to tell Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s amazing story exactly how we wanted. We’re going to keep the magical keys for ourselves, though.

Locke And Key Season 3 Cast

In the last episode of Locke and Key’s second season, Tyler (Connor Jessup), one of their own, was getting ready to start a new life in Boston for college.

But fans will be happy to know that Jessup, who was recently named one of RadioTimes.com’s LGBTQ+ rising stars, isn’t leaving the show for good. The oldest Locke sibling will be back in the show’s upcoming third season.

The Falling Skies actor told Decider, “I don’t think his story is over when he leaves at the end of season two.” “To me, it felt like the beginning of a new chapter, but not like the end. So, Tyler still has more to do.”

Jessup can also be seen in the same Instagram photo by Darby Stanchfield from the set of the third season, which suggests that his character will come back to Matheson at some point.

This time, the Locke kids aren’t completely on their own. Aaron Ashmore’s Uncle Duncan has finally gotten his memories back, and Stanchfield’s Nina Locke has learned about the magical world around her.

They’ll need all the help they can get, because the dangerous villain Frederick Gideon, played by Kevin Durand, wants to cause a lot of trouble. In the season 2 finale, he killed the possessed high school student Eden, played by Hallea Jones.

Fans of Locke and Key can also expect to see more of Sherri Saum and Coby Bird in the final chapter. They play Ellie and Rufus Whedon, a mother and son who are now free of the scary demonic entity Dodge.

Scot Cavendish, played by Petrice Jones, left Matheson to go to a British university. It’s not clear yet if Jones will come back, but Kinsey’s other film nerd friends Zadie (Asha Bromfield), Doug (Jesse Camacho), and Logan (Eric Graise) are likely to come back.

Griffin Gluck and Layla De Oliveira probably won’t be back in season 3 either, since Dodge has been defeated. Genevieve Kang, who played the tragically killed Matheson Academy student Jackie Veda, is also unlikely to come back.

Locke And Key Season 3 PLot

In the last episode of Locke and Key’s second season, an Echo of the cruel revolutionary war soldier Frederick Gideon was introduced. Frederick Gideon is possessed by what could be The Black Door’s most powerful demon.

Demon student Eden Hawkins was surprised to find out which of her brothers was attached to Gideon’s soul. However, her surprise turned to fear when he picked her up by her ankles and threw her down a well.

Needless to say, it looks like this new enemy won’t be taking any prisoners, which is very different from the last bad guy, Dodge, who grew to like Kinsey Locke during the second season.
