The Expendables featured a who’s who of action stars, including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Jet Li. Since the 2010 debut, there have been an increasing number of exciting team-ups. Sylvester Stallone guides a motley crew of actors from the best films of the 1980s and 1990s through a maze of perilous missions in the Expendables series.
Together, they have thwarted other mercenaries, rogue CIA operatives, and even former coworkers. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and Jean-Claude Van Damme have all appeared, demonstrating that they are the best action films to be in if you can make running away from an explosion look cool.
We now know when The Expendables 4 will be released after nine long years. The Expendables are a difficult group to track down, but we have done so, and all the details we have come across are presented below.
Expendables 4 Release Date
Release day for The Expendables 4 on September 22, 2023. The third installment, which added more stars (including Mel Gibson as its villain), but lost the fun it had managed to find in The Expendables 2, came out almost ten years ago. Its underwhelming earnings ($214 million on a $100 million budget) cast doubt on the franchise’s future, leading to the cancellation of The Expendables, an all-female spinoff. Stallone said it would return to an R-rating in November 2014, and two years later he said it would wrap up the quadrilogy. Stallone briefly quit the sequel between 2017 and 2018, citing creative issues, but after receiving support from other cast and crew members, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, he came back.
It took us until the 2020s to hear much more about it, in part because of delays caused by international constraints. But now that it has finished its touch-and-go development, it will be released this year.
The sequel’s filming was finished in December 2021. Tony Jaa, who starred in The Expendables 4, made the announcement on Facebook by posting a photo of him and Iko Uwais along with the statement, “That’s a wrap for Expendables 4.”

Terry Crews is noticeably absent. After saying that Adam Venit of WME had s*xually assaulted him, the actor said in 2018 that he was refusing to feature in the film or any further instalments of the franchise.
In support of the S*xual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights, he spoke before a Senate committee, saying, “I’d done three movies called the Expendables with Sylvester Stallone. The producer of that film called my manager and asked him to drop my case in order for me to be in the fourth installment of the movie. And if I didn’t, there would be trouble.”
In a later tweet, Crews revealed the producer to be Avi Lerner, who has also been accused of s*xual harassment. “This was one thing I had to decide whether I was going to draw the line on: Am I going to be a part of this, or am I going to take a stand? And there are projects I had to turn down,” he said.
Venit won’t be in the movie despite the fact that Crews’ lawsuit against him was eventually resolved. Numerous well-known actors, including Jackie Chan, Dwayne Johnson, Clint Eastwood, Hulk Hogan, and Pierce Brosnan, have joined the cast as supporting characters at various points. It doesn’t appear like Jean-Claude Van Damme’s desire to return to the franchise, in which case he would play the brother of his antagonist Jean Vilain, has materialized.
