Black Desert Online, developed by the Korean studio Pearl Abyss, was released in 2014 to generally positive reviews. After the debut of its consoles in 2019, it gained in popularity and today has more than 49 million gamers worldwide. Who would have imagined a high fantasy scenario combined with combo-based combat would be so effective?

Fans were allowed to watch a trailer for Crimson Desert as part of the Opening Night Live event at Gamescom. It started as a prequel to Black Desert Online but changed over development to become a new IP. So, what do we know about Crimson Desert? Is it anything like Black Desert Online? Crimson Desert Release Date

Crimson Desert was expected to be released in the winter of 2021, which would have delighted many gamers. Pearl Abyss CEO Jin-Young Heo, Crimson Desert, will be released in the fall of 2023. However, the creators decided to delay the release without offering a new potential release date. After seeing the teaser at last night’s Gamescom event, we believe this window has already passed and that the game will launch in early 2024. We’ll update this page as soon as we know the exact date!

Crimson Desert Release Date

“We are currently hard at work developing Crimson Desert, which is rapidly evolving with new adventures and exciting experiences. However, we have decided that we need to dedicate more time to adding new ideas for an even deeper, more enriching game,” reads a tweet from July 2021.

“Therefore, in order to create the best possible experience, all the while ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved in delivering the game, we have decided to delay Crimson Desert’s release. We will provide an updated schedule in the future.”

Crimson Desert Gameplay And The Plot

Crimson Desert seems to be an expansive fantasy role-playing game like its origin. You can ride a horse or go on foot for transportation, and you can go fishing, cut down trees, or pet several dogs. It seems to have rewarding combo, block, and parry-based fighting, as well as a variety of distinct enemies (including those you can climb, like in Shadow of the Colossus).

The trailer curiously lacks the plot. As far as we can tell, the game takes place in the same universe as Black Desert Online, and we assume control of Macduff, the main character, as he battles evil and confronts his past.

The gameplay sample depicts every facet of town life, from employment boards and shops to fishing systems. The magical monoliths and the numerous puzzles, two of the game’s more innovative elements, are also exhibited. Oh, and ents. That is genuinely tree-tremendous stuff.

At the 2020 Game Awards, the massively multiplayer online game received its initial aggressive promotion. You can watch the first 5-minute clip below, which features a variety of scenery, including snowy mountains, lush meadows, and steep slopes.
