Based on how well the first season did, the second season of “1883” looks like it will have more exciting adventures, interesting people, and beautiful scenery. This upcoming season is sure to take viewers back to the time of pioneers and criminals with its exciting stories and rich historical background. Keep an eye out for news about what will happen in “1883” Season 2!

What is the Release Date of 1883 Season 2?

There will be a second season of 1883, but don’t expect anything straightforward. Technically, the successor series 1923 comes after 1883, however, both series take place before the events of Yellowstone. The life of “legendary lawman” Bass Reeves will be chronicled in 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, which will keep the show alive, as reported by sources.

Another spinoff, 6666, set in the Yellowstone universe will focus on the Four Sixes Ranch in West Texas.

Since Sheridan “wanted to make a ten-hour movie that ended, and that’s what we did,” a sequel to 1883 seems unlikely any time soon.

1883 Season 2

Later in 2023, you may expect to see 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. When a particular release date for the “next chapter” of 1883 is announced, we will be sure to post it here as soon as possible. In October of 2022, production started and is currently running strong.

Is 1883 Season 2 Related to 1983?

Although it is technically a precursor, 1923 might be seen as a sequel to the Yellowstone series because it is set after 1883. There is currently no canonical link between the two Yellowstone spinoffs, but both involve the Dutton family, with the Duttons of 1923 being direct ancestors of the Americans of 1883.

Perhaps the most direct link is that Tim McGraw’s James Dutton, the protagonist in 1883, is the brother of Harrison Ford’s Jacob, the Dutton patriarch and ranch owner in 1923. Given the large distance in time, any ties to 1923 would certainly be diluted in the second season of 1883.

Even if younger performers had to replace Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in a prospective sequel, perhaps characters like Jacob Dutton and his wife Cara could emerge in their younger versions. Lawman: Bass Reeves, which may be the closest thing fans get to 1883 Season 2, currently shows no signs of having any link to 1923.

What Might Happen in Season 2 of 1883?

No plans have been announced for a second season of 1883, but that could change if the Yellowstone universe continues to be successful and grow in exciting and unexpected ways. Bass Reeves, who lived from 1838 to 1910, will serve as the inspiration for the protagonist of the upcoming biopic Lawman: Bass Reeves.

The specifics of the story are still being worked out, but by 1883, the actual Reeves had already served as a Deputy U.S. Marshall for eight years; over his long career, he would mu*der 14 outlaws and ja!l around 3000 more.

However, as the year 1883 is no longer in the title of Bass Reeves, it’s probable that any ties to the original show and time period have also been severed, making the plot of the spin-off even less clear.
