Wonder Woman 3 Has Been Canceled By DC

While James Gunn and Peter Safran, the new bosses of DC Studios, continue to figure out the studio’s long-term future, at least one film from the previous regime is set to die: Wonder Woman 3.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Gunn and Safran recently spent time “in deep planning” for their DC blueprint and are now ready to show Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav a plan that is still in progress and get his approval. Wonder Woman 3 is one movie that isn’t part of these plans.

The Hollywood Reporter says that sources say Jenkins just sent in her treatment for the third Wonder Woman movie, which she and Geoff Johns will write together. But Gunn, Safran, and the co-CEOs of Warner Bros. Pictures, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, told Jenkins that this movie doesn’t fit the new plan for DC Studios.

Jenkins has made two Wonder Woman movies. In 2017, he made a film about how Wonder Woman came to be; in 2020, he will make a sequel called Wonder Woman 1984. Gadot also played Wonder Woman in a number of Snyderverse DC movies, such as Batman v. Superman and Justice League.

No one knows the franchise’s future or if Gadot will stay in the role if there is a reboot or reset. Also, it’s not just her.

The report says that DC’s new plan could be to end the Snyderverse and stop making Aquaman movies with Jason Momoa and Man of Steel 2 with Henry Cavill. Both of these characters will have small roles in the next Flash movie.

Cavill’s announcement that he would be back as Superman wasn’t too soon because there were plans for a sequel and another Justice League movie with the actors from the Snyderverse. But Gunn and Safran’s plans could leave them out altogether, along with a sequel to Black Adam.  It seems like Gunn and Safran are ready to start over with DC. Even though the Snyderverse is still a topic of conversation, it could get in the way of the new presidents’ plans for a new DC Studios.
