Tyler Perry Talks About His Past Attempts To Kill Himself As He Mourns The Death Of Stephen “Twitch” Boss.

After Stephen “tWitch” Boss died, Tyler Perry is talking about his history of mental illness. Boss, a professional dancer, actor, and former DJ and co-executive producer for the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” killed himself on Tuesday. He was 40 years old.

On Thursday, Perry paid tribute to Boss in an emotional Instagram video titled “Life.”

“Like everyone else, I’m shocked that Stephen Boss, tWitch, died,” Tyler Perry said. “I’ve only talked to him a few times. He always seemed so full of life. He was like a light.”

The director talked about his own struggles in the past.

“I just want to tell you about a time in my life when I tried to kill myself more than once because I didn’t think things would get better. I had been through so much pain and abuse, including s*xual abuse, that I thought the only way to make things better was to end my life,” Tyler Perry said.

“If any of those plans had worked, I would have lost the best parts of my life,” he said.

Perry told people who were having trouble to ask for help.

“I know it may seem like there’s no way out, but please reach out to someone. “Call and ask for help if you are going through anything that makes you feel like you want to end your life,” he said.

Call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 in the US.

Globally, crisis centers can be reached through the International Association for Suicide Prevention and Befrienders Worldwide.

Tyler Perry explained how he got through his pain by saying, “What I realize now, looking back on all those dark times, is that sometimes the pain is a buy-in. I know that’s not easy to grasp. Pain isn’t always a buy-in, but sometimes it is. I had to learn to look at it this way in order to get through it. I mean that if I had given up or stopped after all that pain, hell, and struggle, I wouldn’t have seen the best part of my life. So I bought into something and paid for something.”

He also said, “I know that doesn’t make sense to a lot of people, but for me, that was how I could make sense of it and get through the pain, knowing that if I could just get through this moment, get through this moment, there had to be something better.”

Perry said, “I’m as happy as I’ve ever been right now.”

“I’m telling you this if you’re thinking about suicide or ending your life and you’ve been through a lot of hell,” he said. “Please, please, please think about what could be on the other side.” “It might be great. And if you went through the dark, you would miss the best part. Don’t let the dark keep you from reaching this amazing place in life.”

Tyler Perry gave the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline information about where to find help.

“If you need help, I hope you’ll ask for it. Use this phone number. God bless you. I’m with you,” Perry said. “I’m living proof that you can get through it,” she said.
