The Pokémon Company has been teasing the next installment in the 26-year-old franchise, the ninth generation of Pokémon games, in the months following its release. Initial information, including the titles of the games, was unveiled on Pokémon Day in February. A different trailer for Scarlet and Violet was released on YouTube in June, and on Wednesday, another sneak peek was released.
A steady stream of trailers and Twitter hints have been released by The Pokémon Company since then, revealing both new Pokémon and the mystery setting of Palden.
There’s still a lot to learn about Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, the next mainline games in the series, even though they don’t come out for months. While we don’t know everything, we do know a good bit about the game, such as the types of new Pokémon and the open-world features to look forward to.
As for Pokémon, Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are all we know thus far thanks to The Pokémon Company. As more information becomes available, we will continue to update this report.
When Will Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Be Available?
The Pokémon Company revealed on Wednesday that the release dates for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are November 18th. The titles will only be available on the Nintendo Switch.

Region Name: Paldea
The new area for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet was revealed to be called Paldea in August by The Pokémon Company. A land of “wide open landscapes filled with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, and mountain ranges,” as defined by The Pokémon Company.
The region’s major city is named Mesagoza, and there are two academies that players can enroll in: Naranja Academy and Uva Academy, respectively, depending on whether they’re playing Scarlet or Violet. Also, Check Strike Scoring Returns
Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Open-world Rpg Gameplay
The new Pokémon games, Scarlet and Violet, are being billed as an “open-world experience,” Players are free to travel between the game’s wilderness and cities. The gameplay is believed to feature components from previous Pokémon games, with possible inspiration from the Wild Area from Pokémon Sword and Shield and the semi-open world of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

The Pokémon Company has stated that players could “explore the environment at their own pace, independent of the story’s progression.” Still, Pokémon trainers have a path to take, and it sounds like it has more variety than in the past: The Pokémon Company’s official website for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet states, “Meet a range of people and Pokémon, and explore in the world of Pokémon the manner you wish to.”
The Pokémon Company elaborated in August on how players who join any of the two schools can “weave” a story in whichever direction they like. The three “great stories” in Scarlet and Violet are only accessible through an independent study called The Treasure Hunt, a requirement at the schools. The Pokémon Company has thus far only detailed one of these scenarios, but it’s the one that’s most likely to be instantly recognizable to longtime fans: the journey to becoming Pokémon champion and the challenge of Victory Road’s eight gyms.
The Pokémon Company updated the public on Path of Legends and Starfall Street at the beginning of September. In Path of Legends, trainers travel alongside an experienced character named Arven to track down a mysterious herb called Herba Mystica.
You’ll face off against the game’s bad guys, Team Star, on Starfall Street. They’re known as “the cool kids” at school. Trainers can take their Pokémon on foot adventures in the Paldea region. As an added bonus, the “Let’s Go!” function automatically enables trainers to send out Pokémon to acquire items and engage in battle with nearby Pokémon.
The Multiplayer Power Of Pokémon Scarlet And Violet
Based on what we’ve heard from Pokémon, you can count on “multiplayer gameplay with up to four people.” The Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet websites state, “You will be able to explore the many locations of the region with other players.” This is a major departure from previous Pokémon games, where trading and battles were the primary modes of interaction.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will have online multiplayer for one to four players and local wireless play for two to four players. The Union Circle provides a central hub for gamers to gather and “experience together in the same environment.”
There has been a clear buildup from Pokémon Sword and Shield to whatever more substantial multiplayer experience The Pokémon Company has in store.
In August, the Pokémon Company detailed these features—along with trade and battles. The Poké Portal allows for battles, exchanges with pals and even surprise deals!
Scarlet And Violet Starter Pokémon
Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly are the initial three Pokémon you can catch in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Players can choose from one of these three Pokémon to use as their starting Pokémon, much like in prior games. Quaxly is a “earnest and tidy Duckling Pokémon” that is very particular about keeping its hair clean, while Sprigatito is a “capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokémon” that can engage in photosynthesis. Fuecoco is “a laid-back Fire Croc Pokémon that does things at its own pace” and spouts flames.
However, the ultimate forms of these three seedlings remain a mystery.
Pokémon Scarlet And Violet New Professors And Rival
For the first time ever, the gamer can choose the professor they want to play as: If you choose Pokémon Scarlet, you’ll work with Professor Sada, whereas if you pick Pokémon Violet, you’ll be paired with Professor Turo. According to The Pokémon Company, each of these academics is doing independent studies “into lore passed down in the region.” Their names, Sada and Turo, are allusions to the past and future, respectively, and provide an explanation for their attire; this is all part of their investigation. Similarly, the names of the legendary Pokémon incorporate the terms “korai” (meaning “ancient”) and “mirai” (meaning “future”).
It’s unclear how or if the professor you choose will affect the game’s mechanics at first glance.
Nemona is the opponent of the Scarlet and Violet Pokémon. She isn’t called a rival, but she seems to perform the same function as one because she is described as “a buddy and trusted adviser” and a “experienced Pokémon trainer” by The Pokémon Company.
In addition to these two instructors, the academy also has Mr. Jacq, who teaches biology and serves as a homeroom teacher, and Director Clavell.
Additional New Pokémon In Pokémon Scarlet and Ultra Violet
In June, three new Pokémon joined the Scarlet and Violet rosters thanks to the efforts of Nemona: Pawmi, Lechonk, and Smoliv. Pawmi is an electrified mouse that charges its cheeks by rubbing them together, and Lechonk is a flawless normal-type hog with a penchant for berries. Naturally, Smoliv is an olive Pokémon with a highly concerned expression. More of the new Pokémon were revealed in August: Iconic examples include Fidough, a yeasty Pokémon that is simply a bunch of bagels, and Cetitan, a powerful Pokémon adapted to cold climates.
As seen in the August teaser, Paldean Wooper is a variant of Wooper that can only be found in Paldea.
In the first half of September, we were introduced to four new animals: Grafaiai, a deadly ape with an abnormally long finger; Klawf, an adorable (and occasionally enormous) crab; Armarouge and Ceruledge, two knights unique to each edition.
Cyclizar, a mount Pokémon that can be ridden like a cycle, is the final new Pokémon to be revealed so far. The Pokémon Company hasn’t verified whether or whether it’s related to Scarlet and Violet’s legendary Pokémon, but the similarities are uncanny.
