Kellyanne and George Conway Divorce: Is There Relationship Over?

Kellyanne Conway, a former top aide to President Donald Trump, and George Conway, a lawyer, and frequent Trump critic, announced their divorce on Saturday after nearly two decades of marriage.

The Conways, who married in 2001, said in a statement shared on Twitter by George Conway that they were in the “final stages of an amicable divorce.”

“We married more than two decades ago and loved the many happy years (and four corgis) we’ve enjoyed, but most importantly, our four incredible children, who remain the pulse of our family and our top focus,” they said.

The Conways were a Republican power couple, but their political views began to diverge publicly with Trump’s ascension. Although George Conway initially backed Trump for president, he soon became one of his harshest detractors.

Much of George Conway’s anti-Trump rants were initiated on Twitter, where he has gained over 2 million followers. The fact that he was a longstanding Republican married to a prominent Trump aide meant his critiques garnered extra attention.

In 2019, George Conway co-founded the anti-Trump Lincoln Project with many Trump critics to work against the president’s re-election.

Kellyanne Conway was Trump’s campaign manager before becoming a senior counselor in the White House. While her husband launched anti-Trump social media attacks, she was one of the president’s most outspoken media defenders.

Kellyanne Conway left the Trump administration in 2020, before the presidential election.
