Annie Murphy as Joan
Annie Murphy plays Joan, an apparently ordinary woman who discovers that a popular streaming service’s hit show is based on real-life events in her life.
Murphy is remembered for her role as Alexis Rose in Schitt’s Creek, a popular sitcom that followed the Rose family as they went from riches to rags and had to start over in a tiny community. Murphy has appeared in a few episodes of Netflix’s Russian Doll and the parody show Kevin Can F**k Himself.
Salma Hayek Pinault as Herself/”Joan”
Salma Hayek portrays TV Joan, a fake version of Joan who stars in the Netflix series Joan is Awful.
Hayek is a well-known Hollywood veteran who has been acting since the ’90s and has worked in great films such as Fools Rush In, Frida, Grown Ups, and The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Her most recent cinematic appearance was as Ajak in Marvel’s Eternals.
Beppe: Michael Cera
On Joan is Awful, Michael Cera plays Beppe, a producer. Cera is a well-known actor in films and television shows, including Braceface, Love & Beth, Superbad, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Avi Nash as Krish
Avi Nash portrays Krish, Joan’s real-life boyfriend who discovers the show based on her life. Nash is most recognized for his role as Siddiq in The Walking Dead. He has also appeared in the Barry, Silicon Valley, and Silo television shows.

Himesh Patel as “Krish”
In the streaming series, Himesh Patel plays TV Krish, a fictitious version of Joan’s boyfriend. Patel is most remembered for his role in EastEnders as Tamwar Masood, whom he portrayed for 566 episodes. He’s also acted in films like The Luminaries, Station Eleven, and Enola Holmes 2.
Rob Delaney as Mac
Mac, Joan’s real-life ex-boyfriend, is played by Rob Delaney. Delaney is a well-known actor, having acted in films such as Deadpool 2, The Hustle, and The Good House. He has, however, appeared in several TV shows, including Cougar Town, Catastrophe, and The Power.
