Jeff Bezos and television journalist Lauren Sánchez made their relationship public in 2019, following Bezos’ divorce from his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie. In May 2023, the couple announced their engagement.
The former Good Day LA co-host was divorcing her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell, one of Hollywood’s most powerful agents, at the time of their connection.
In the months leading up to the divorce, Sánchez and Bezos had been spending more time together. Their love has grown in the years after the news surfaced, with the couple traveling on family vacations together, advocating for climate change, and piling on the PDA.
They are especially focused on their philanthropic deeds as a pair. “You can see and hear their excitement when they meet with partners on climate, education, and homelessness work,” a PEOPLE source said.
Sánchez appears to share Bezos’ fascination with space. She discussed intentions to launch into space in 2023. She indicated that she will not take off with Bezos but will instead join a female crew.

Bezos proposed to Sánchez four years after they publicly began dαting. The couple was pictured on vacation together in the South of France, spending their time aboard the billionaire’s $500 million boat, where Sánchez was seen wearing a ring on her finger.
On the prow of the yacht is a sculpture of Sánchez that includes the Koru symbol, representing new beginnings and positive development in a new period of life.
“Her friends are overjoyed that Jeff finally proposed,” a source told PEOPLE. “They have been talking about it for a long time. All of her friends say this is her dream come true. She found the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with and they felt the time was right.”

She’s a Pilot Who Now Flies Helicopters For movies
Sánchez, as a TV anchor and a mother, specializes in aerial filming and worked as a consultant on Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.
“I had my job, I had a career, and then I found a calling,” she told the outlet. “I loved entertainment and I loved filming, and so I got to combine all of it.”
In June 2016, she acquired her helicopter pilot’s license and founded Black Ops Aviation, an aerial cinematography and production company.
Sánchez told that she frequently travels with her children. “I want to be in a helicopter all the time,” she explained. “Life can be so chaotic with so much going on. Lift off and you’re in an energy space that no one else is in. It’s calming. When I’m up there, I’m completely satisfied. I’m like, ‘This is where I need to be.'”
According to Page Six, the pilot was also paid to capture aerial views for Bezos’ company Blue Origin. She was most recently an aerial producer in Catherine Hardwicke’s upcoming Miss Bala, starring Gina Rodriguez.
