New images for Indiana Jones 5 hint that Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge will go spelunking together in the highly-anticipated sequel. In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, the new images also show how, despite his age in the universe, Indy will be right in the middle of the action in Indiana Jones 5.
Raiders of the Lost Ark, which came out in 1981, was Ford’s first movie. He played Indiana Jones, an archaeologist and adventurer. In the movie, which takes place in 1936, Indy fights Nazi soldiers who want the legendary Lost Ark for the glory of the Third Reich. In Indiana Jones 5, which takes place in 1969, Ford will play an older explorer who is getting ready to pass the torch to a new generation. Waller-Bridge, who plays Indy’s goddaughter Helena in the second movie, is likely to take his place.
The circle couldn’t be complete without the Nazis that Indy helped fight in his first movie, so the plot of Indiana Jones is about former Nazis secretly funding NASA projects during the space race. Lucasfilm wants to keep the movie’s story a secret until the movie comes out, but the new images show us more about the problems that Indy and Helena will face together.
What Do The New Indiana Jones 5 Images Show?
For starters, many new pictures show Indy and Helena exploring caves together. During these underground searches, the two will find a rope bridge that doesn’t look very stable. This means that someone will probably fall, but hopefully not to death. The pictures also show Helena climbing onto a metal structure and Indy running through the streets. Their fight against the Nazis will put them in danger in many different places.
Lastly, there is a suspicious picture of Indy meeting an enemy in uniform on top of what looks like a train going through the mountains. We can’t be sure who the enemy is because smoke surrounds him. However, it could be Mads Mikkelsen‘s villainous Voller. Other images show us some of the sequel’s excellent supporting cast, including Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, and John Rhys-Davies as Sallah, who is back from the first movie.
The fifth Indiana Jones movie is the first one that Steven Spielberg will not direct. Instead, he will be in charge of making the movie. James Mangold is to make the movie. He worked with Jez Butterworth and John Henry Butterworth to write the script.
