You won’t be able to find “This year, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” on TV. This weekend, everyone can watch the Halloween classic for free. The Peanuts special will be free to watch again on Apple TV+ from October 28 to October 31, 2022.
Back in 2020, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang moved to Apple TV+, which became their new home for everything, including the popular holiday specials. When people found out that the specials wouldn’t be on TV for the first time in decades, they were very upset.
Even though Halloween 2020 came and went without anyone seeing the “Great Pumpkin” on TV, Apple later worked with PBS to show “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” without commercials.” Last year, PBS showed all three Peanuts holiday specials. But that won’t be the case this year.
In an email, PBS confirmed that it doesn’t have the rights to show Peanuts specials this year.
So if you want to watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” or “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” you’ll need Apple TV+. Even if you don’t have an Apple TV+ subscription, you can still watch each of the holiday specials for free for a short time.
From October 28 to October 31, you can watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” for free. From November 23 to November 27, you can watch “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” and from December 22 to December 25, you can watch “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
The first episode of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” aired on CBS in 1966. In 2001, it moved to ABC, where it has been shown every year until 2020.
