A “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights” actress said that Harvey Weinstein masturbated on her face while his assistant waited outside a hotel room. The woman, who was called “Ashley M.” in court, shook and cried as she said that the disgraced Hollywood movie mogul picked her out of a group of dancers who were working on a movie in Puerto Rico in 2003 and told her he wanted a “naked massage.”
Ashley M., who was trained as a ballerina, said she was 22 years old when she worked on the “Dirty Dancing” sequel, which was made by Weinstein’s old company, Miramax. She said Weinstein came up to her as she was getting ready to film a ballroom scene with other dancers. He then took her outside to talk to her alone.
Ashley M. said in tears, “He said it would just be a naked massage and not to worry about it.” He said, “Look at what it did for Gwyneth Paltrow’s career.”
Ashley M. said she turned down his advances and was happy when they took a break for dinner because she thought she wouldn’t have to talk to Weinstein anymore.
She told the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday that a producer and a choreographer did nothing when she told them what had happened. When she got back from dinner, Weinstein and his assistant, Bonnie Hung, were waiting for her.
She said Weinstein became “very aggressive” and told her to get in the limo with Hung.
“With my eyes, I asked her (Hung), ‘Can you help me?’,” Ashley M. said. “She looked me in the eyes and told me, ‘Don’t worry. I will always be there for you. He only wants to talk about work.”
Ashley M. said that even though she was scared, she got in the limo with Weinstein because she knew Hung would be with her. After a short ride of 10 to 15 minutes, the limo pulled up at a hotel. “I was worried, but Bonnie’s presence made me feel better… “I didn’t know what was going on, though,” she said.
Weinstein led the three of them to a door inside the hotel. Ashley M. said that’s when she realized she wasn’t going to a meeting room, but rather to a private room. She was crying as she said, “Harvey opened the door, he went in, and then I went in.” “Bonnie closed the door after us.” She said that Weinstein got angry right away and pushed her onto the bed.
Ashley M. said that he took off her top and bra, and he also took off his clothes.
He told Ashley M., “It’s not like we’re having sex; it’s just naked cuddling.” “I was kind of terrified. I was confused about what to do. I said stop. I just remember thinking, “What should I do?” I knew he was big and that Bonnie was probably out there. “I had no idea what to do.”
Ashley M., who weighed about 115 pounds at the time, said Weinstein’s size made her feel powerless when he straddled her and touched her breasts. She said she couldn’t see Weinstein’s private parts, but she did see him move while he was masturbating.
Ashley M. said, “He told me, ‘It’s fine, it’s not like we’re making out.'” “He made love to me… on my breasts, and some of it got on my face.” Ashley M. said, “I cleaned up and got dressed,” which made her laugh out loud. She said that she felt “thankful” that she hadn’t been raped. Hung was standing right outside the hotel door with a clipboard when she opened the door. Ashley M. said that Hung tried not to look at her, and then the three of them got back in the limo and drove back to the “Havana Nights” set.
Ashley M. said she called her mother and then her fiance right away, but she was too embarrassed to tell them what happened.
When Deputy District Attorney Marlene Martinez asked Ashley M. if she had told anyone on set about the alleged attack, she said no. “It seemed like everyone was afraid for their jobs at the time,” she said. “At the dinner, no one helped me. Why would they help me at this time?”
Even though Weinstein is not being charged for what he did to Ashley M., the law lets the prosecution talk to witnesses about “prior bad acts” to show a defendant’s pattern of behavior, which could show their intent.
Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of rape and sexual assault against four women, including the First Partner of California, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who is also the wife of Governor Gavin Newsom. During the trial, they will all say that they are Jane Doe.
The prosecution also plans to call three more witnesses who have done bad things in the past.
Weinstein, who is 70 years old, is in prison for 23 years after being found guilty in New York. Weinstein was given permission to go to the New York State Court of Appeals to appeal his 2020 sex crime conviction.
Ashley M. will keep talking about what she saw on Friday.
