Kingsley Ben-Adir stars as the legendary Bob Marley in Bob Marley: One Love, a biopic that chronicles Marley’s life from his childhood in Jamaica to his most famous performance.

The teaser for the biography shows that it will cover his public and private life, including the darkest period of his life when he was the subject of an assassination attempt while he was at the top of his game.

Although he was injured and nearly killed in the 1976 shooting at his home, Bob Marley still managed to perform a free concert called “Smile Jamaica” where he shared his signature message of love and unity with the audience.

This period of Marley’s life, while the Exodus album was being recorded, is the focal point of the film. The original release date for the Paramount film was January 12, 2024.

At 36 years of age, Marley passed away in 1981. Acral lentiginous melanoma was the official diagnosis. Marley thought a black spot under his foot was from a soccer injury at first, but it turned out to be cancer.

The Commodores and Marley’s band performed two consecutive gigs on September 19 and 20, 1980. Even though the singer had a collapse the next day, he pulled through and performed his last concert in Pittsburgh on September 23. He passed away in Miami, Florida, when the cancer had progressed to his brain.
