Virgin River is one of those series that proves that life in a remote little town may not be as peaceful and simple as one may expect. The show that covers the events from the life of a certain nurse has been renewed for its fifth (and not last!) season.
Based on the series of novels by Robyn Carr, Netflix’s show tells the story of a troubled woman named Mel, who took a job in a small town in Northern California. She came to the Virgin River for a fresh start, ready to leave her past behind. Working as a nurse and a midwife, she faced new challenges but also found friends and love.

Virgin River Season 5 Release Date
On September 7, Netflix will start streaming Virgin River season 5. This comes earlier than we anticipated because Netflix had stated that it would return in the fall. That means the answer to the most pressing of the season 4 cliffhangers—who is the father of Charmaine’s children?—will be revealed soon.
The official Virgin River Instagram account posted a photo of a smiling Alexandra Breckenridge (who stars as Mel Monroe) with the caption: “The moment you’ve ALL been waiting for….Drumroll please. Virgin River Season 5 will be streaming on Netflix September 7th! I repeat, September 7th!”
But, that’s not all. The post continued, “Better yet… There will be a part two 😉. Our HOLIDAY episodes will be released on November 30th.”
A press announcement states that season 5 will be released in two parts, with the first 10 episodes premiering on September 7 and the final two episodes premiering on November 30.
In a teaser for the upcoming episodes, Netflix said: “Season Five of Virgin River features surprising new relationships, a shocking break-up, a difficult court trial, a heartbreaking goodbye, and a wildfire that threatens the town, bringing some people of Virgin River together while tearing others apart.”
Fans of Mel and Jack can relax knowing that the Virgin River saga will continue. The sixth season of the show has officially been ordered, however, filming has been put off because of the current writers’ and actors’ strikes.
Who Will Star in Season 5 of Virgin River?
Virgin River has a fantastic ensemble cast, and many viewers are eagerly anticipating the return of their favourite characters in Season 5. The good news is that the cast largely stays the same, which makes sense given that Season 5 will begin the exact next in-world day after the events of Season 4’s final episode.
The likes of Tim Matheson as Dr. Vernon, Annette O’Toole as Hope, Colin Lawrence as Preacher, Benjamin Hollingsworth as Dan, Zibby Allen as Brie, Sarah Dugdale as Lizzie, Marco Grazzini as Mike, Mark Ghanimé as Dr Cameron, and Kai Bradbury as Denny are among the returning cast members in addition to Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel and Martin Henderson as Jack.
As with any program of this stature, there is a possibility that a few more well-known actors will join the group in time for Season 5, but fans will undoubtedly be happy if the roster remains unchanged.

What Is The Plot of Virgin River Season 5?
The two are poised to glide into Season 5 in bliss after a turbulent Season 4, during which Jack and Mel argue whether or not they should find out if Mel’s baby’s biological father is Jack or her late husband Mark (Daniel Gillies). Jack has been able to propose to Mel without waiting for the results of the paternity test, which has established that the child is his.
