Stephen Bannon was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on November 27, 1953. His parents, Doris, a housewife and Martin, a telephone lineman, raised him. He is partly Irish and partly German. As a child, Bannon went to Benedictine College Preparatory in Richmond, which is a Catholic military school. After that, he went to Virginia Tech and worked at a local junk yard during the summers. After getting a degree in urban planning from Virginia Tech, he spent seven years as an officer in the US Navy. During this time, he went to Georgetown University and got a master’s degree in national security studies. He also went to Harvard Business School and got an MBA.

After leaving the Navy, Bannon worked as an investment banker in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department at Goldman Sachs. In 1987, he moved to Los Angeles so he could help the company grow in the entertainment business. Later, in August 2020, federal prosecutors in New York charged Bannon and three other men with defrauding donors in a large crowdfunding campaign that said it was raising money to build a wall along the US-Mexico border. Trump gave Bannon a pardon before the date of his trial, even though he had said he wasn’t guilty.

In November 2020, Bannon posted death threats on social media against an expert on infectious diseases named Anthony Fauci. Like his former boss Donald Trump, Bannon was banned from Twitter for good.

During their marriage, Bannon was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, battery and swaying a witness. Later, he married Diane Clohesy in 2006. They split up in 2009.
