Three individuals were murd*red and five others were injured when gunfire rang out early Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri. According to authorities, a “subject of interest” was apprehended at 5 p.m. local time.
According to CBS station KCTV, the violence broke out in a parking lot around 4:30 a.m. local time.
The bodies of two ad*lt men and an ad*lt woman were discovered in the parking lot and on the street just south of a local crossroads, according to the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department. At the scene, all three were pronounced deceased.
According to police, five other sh00ting victims were transported to hospitals in ambulances and private automobiles. Their injuries are not life-threatening.
At the time of the incident, there was a “large gathering” in the parking lot, according to investigators. It was unclear what the meeting was for, but Kansas City’s mayor speculated that it could have been a local business masquerading as an unauthorized club.
“If the business knew that people would be present, without security, selling alcohol, and breaking our laws, that business should be closed,” Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said on Facebook. “Similarly situated businesses operating as unlicensed clubs, where we have seen countless shootings and murders, should expect the same enforcement action.”
The person of interest was characterized as an adult male, but he had not been recognized as of Sunday night, indicating that no charges had been filed.
