HBO Max’s Titans Season 4 Episode 6 TV Review

Titans Season 4 reaches its midseason finale with a bang and a lot of major plot threads to follow up on. Here is a review of the sixth episode of the season.

The first half of Season 4 of Titans is over, and the last six episodes of the HBO Max original series are expected to air in 2023 at a date that has not yet been set. Even though the tone of the season has been lighter, the last few episodes have focused on the horror aspects of the story, as the fight against Mother Mayhem and the Church of Blood has gotten worse. Even though some of the character changes in the midseason finale feel a bit forced, the episode picks up the pace and sets up a bloody second half of the season when it comes back.

In Season 4, Episode 6, “Brother Blood,” the Titans return to S.T.A.R. Labs to regroup and plan their next moves. In the previous episode, Sebastian Sanger gave himself to Mother Mayhem, and Conner Kent was taken over by magic. Conner’s ordeal and Gar Logan’s unorthodox way of saving his friend lead to unexpected results for both heroes while the rest of the Titans face their crossroads. Sebastian, meanwhile, thinks about his sad past as he gets deeper into the Church of Blood. Mayhem keeps a close eye on Sebastian as he feels about his dark future.

If the last episode of Titans felt like the story was going nowhere, the midseason finale has a lot of big character moments and plot developments before the end of the season. There are many different character arcs in this episode, and the calm before the storm makes good use of many of them. Almost everyone in the main cast gets a chance to shine, and they often do a great job with what they are given.

In this episode, Joseph Morgan‘s tortured performance as Sebastian reaches its saddest point and hints at something much darker. Morgan has had other chances to show Sebastian’s pain, but as the main character for most of the midseason finale, he pushes Sebastian to the edge of his pain and his own sense of right and wrong. Lisa Ambalavanar also has a lot to work with in this episode. She is no longer just the crazy person on the team who shakes things up, but she also has a few quiet moments that show her vulnerability.

People will have different opinions about where they are going with Conner’s character and how his personality changes will fit into the bigger story. In some ways, Conner was always looking for a stronger sense of who he was, and now that he has one after his cursed ordeal, he might be better off without it, no matter what Joshua Orpin does. Some other parts of the episode feel too convenient for the story, especially one involving Rachel Roth near the end. Hopefully, this will pay off better in the second half of Season 4.

Throughout Season 4, the Titans have lost one game after another, and the midseason finale will be the team’s worst loss yet, but it will be entertaining to watch. Sebastian’s character arc has always been sad, and this episode is mostly about his sadness, which brings an end to the more carefree events. Titans Season 4 closes out the year with a huge cliffhanger and many exciting paths for the main characters to take. This leaves the audience eager to see where the story goes next.

The first half of Season 4 of Titans, made for TV by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Greg Berlanti, can be streamed on HBO Max. The second half of the season will likely start sometime in 2023.
