Billionaire James Crown Ki!!ed in Fatal Crash At Colorado Racetrack

A prominent Chicago billionaire d!ed in a car acc*dent at a racetrack in Colorado on Sunday.

The Pitkin County Coroner’s Office claimed in a news release that James Crown, a businessman, and philanthropist from Chicago’s rich Crown family, suffered blunt force injuries after hitting an impact barrier at Aspen Motorsports Park in Woody Creek. Crown’s final cause of deαth is still under investigation by the coroner’s office.

Crown, who owned the Aspen Skiing Company among other businesses, was 70 years old when he d!ed. The coroner in Pitkin County, where Crown lived part-time in addition to Chicago, ruled the tragic crash an acc*dent.

Chicago In response to the news of Crown’s deαth, Mayor Brandon Johnson issued a statement to CBS Chicago, telling the network that he was “devastated” when he learned of the tragedy.

“A lifelong Chicagoan, Jim gave back to the city through philanthropy and leadership on a number of civic and academic boards, as he was deeply committed to investing in Chicago and its people,” said Johnson in a statement.

I was especially grateful for his commitment to work collaboratively with my administration to build a safer Chicago, having met recently to share ideas. I send my deepest condolences to his wife, four children, grandchildren, and the entire Crown family and pray for their peace,” the mayor added.

According to CBS Chicago, Crown was a member of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, a nonprofit community group.

He recently assisted in the creation of a Civic Committee effort aimed at raising tens of millions of dollars over the next several years to help reduce crime in Chicago by collaborating with local organizations and leaders. Crown stated earlier this month that the new effort aimed to boost citywide safety.

Crown and his wife had recently attended a White House state banquet, and President Biden said in a statement Monday, “Jim represented America at its best — industrious, big-hearted, and always looking out for each other.” He was a wonderful American, a fine man, and a beloved friend.”
