Big Pokey, born Milton Powell on November 29, 1977, was an American rapper from Houston, Texas. At a young age, he established a passion for music and remained consistent throughout his career, climbing through the ranks to become one of Houston, Texas’ most sought-after rappers.
Pokey began his rap career in the early 1990s with Houston producer DJ Screw and was featured on the DJ’s seminal mixtape June 27 Freestyle. He was linked with chopped and screwed music and was a part of Houston-based rappers Screwed Up Circle.

Big Pokey Career
Pokey released his first studio album, “Hardest Pit in the Litter,” on May 18, 1999. He also participated in the 2001 films Soldiers United for Cash and Dirty Third 2: Home Sweet Home. Unfortunately, the Houston rapper had perished. Big Pokey died on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 45, after collapsing during a Juneteenth event at Pour 09 Bar in Beaumont, Texas.
