On Saturday night, a collision on Chicago’s Far South Side claimed the lives of three people, according to police.
Just before 11 p.m., a drag racing event in Washington Heights turned fatal when a car hit a pole, lost control, hit a wall, and caught fire. The 10000 block of South Halsted Street is where the vehicle caught fire.
According to authorities, the Chicago Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
According to the police, three people were declared deceased at the site. Their names have not yet been made public.
Investigating is the Major Accident Investigation Unit. The police did not immediately release further details concerning the collision.
