Tracey Edmonds, Sanders’ long-term girlfriend, revealed on social media that the second operation went well and thanked his medical professionals and the people of Colorado in the process. At UC Health at the University of Colorado Anschutz, Sanders is getting well.

“Thank you Lord for another successful surgery!!” she wrote. “We thank you for giving #CoachPrime @deionsanders the strength to fight these challenges and we have Faith that you wil give him the VICTORY! We are so GRATEFUL for all the doctors, nurses, and staff who have blessed him on his road to recovery! And we thank ALL OF YOU for your BEAUTIFUL prayers! They bring tears to my eyes when I read them and they fill us with HOPE and STRENGTH! God bless all of you!”

After three seasons as Jackson State University’s head coach, Sanders will make his Colorado Buffaloes debut this year. The former two-sport star in the NFL and MLB claims his untreated turf toe from his athletic career is to blame for his current medical problems. Although Sanders had two of his left foot’s toes severed, he revealed that additional procedures would be required to treat blood clots that had formed in his legs.
