Deadpool 3 Release Date: What Will The Film Be About?

Despite the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike, Deadpool 3 has begun shooting. Marvel has given a revised release date for the movie, so it appears it will hit theatres earlier than we initially anticipated.

If the idea of Deadpool being in the MCU wasn’t intriguing enough, we also know that Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine in the third film. Naturally, Reynolds and Jackman have enjoyed making fun of one another over the official title of the threequel.

Morena Baccarin, who plays Vanessa, and Stefan Kapii, who plays Colossus, are the newest cast members to be confirmed to return. The two, however, are by no means the only intriguing cast additions for the threequel, as we explain below.

Initially, it was revealed that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, writers for Bob’s Burgers, had been tapped to pen the screenplay. However, it now appears that the writers of the first two movies, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are also writing the third movie.

Here is everything you need to know about Deadpool and Wolverine’s MCU debuts.

When Will Deadpool 3 Release?

Deadpool 3 has a new release date of May 3, 2024, following various alterations. Deadpool 3 was first slated to open in theatres on September 6, 2024. However, that date was later pushed back to November 8 and then abruptly moved up six months. That sets the movie in Phase 5 of the MCU, just before Captain America 4’s (now-retitled Captain America: Brave New World) summer release.

Deadpool tweeted about the 3rd version’s release date:

Shawn Levy, who is directing Reynolds in his third picture with him following Free Guy and The Adam Project, was correct when he said in December 2022 that production would begin “on or about” May 2023.

Colossus actor Stefan Kapii, who is returning to the character, announced on May 2023 via Instagram Stories (via ComicBook) that filming has already begun.d. It will be interesting to watch if the writers’ strike has any impact over the following weeks.s.

Who’s Going to Be in Deadpool 3 Cast?

Ryan Reynolds’ return as Wade Wilson, nicknamed Deadpool, was inevitable, and some big names joined him. As was already established, Hugh Jackman will play Wolverine in his first MCU appearance. Although the specific canonical workings are still unknown, we anticipate some multiversal antics.

In December 2022, Jackman explained: “All because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines now, we can go back because it’s ‘science’. And so I don’t have to screw with the Logan timeline, which was important to me, and I think probably to the fans, too.”

Reynolds technically already appeared in an MCU advertisement alongside the character Korg from Thor: Ragnarok and in the Avengers Campus Ride Avengers Assemble: Flight Force.

The announcement that Emma Corrin will play the movie’s main antagonist is another exciting new development for the larger Marvel universe. Although we don’t know who they will portray, we are satisfied with their casting.

In Deadpool 3, future star Matthew Macfadyen will also debut in MCU. Sadly, we don’t yet know the character he’ll be portraying.

Several new heroes were introduced to us in the X-Force squad in Deadpool 2, including Cable (Josh Brolin), even though several didn’t live long enough to be seen. However, Domino (Zazie Beetz) won’t be appearing in the third movie, as the actress stated.

Stefan Kapi’i’s return as Colossus is now known, but we still don’t know anything about his other X-Force allies, including Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna), Russell (Julian Dennison), and Peter (Rob Delaney).

Fans shouldn’t hold out much hope that characters like Zeitgeist (Bill Skarsgrd) and Shatterstar (Lewis Tan) will appear in Deadpool 3. Still, superheroes frequently outlive their mortal enemies in comic books, so it’s never guaranteed.

Vanessa, Deadpool’s girlfriend, is one character in the franchise who has already escaped death (as long as Deadpool 2’s post-credits sequence is canon). In April 2023, it was announced that Morena Baccarin would reprise her role as Vanessa.

Baccarin previously defended Vanessa’s lack of screen time in the sequel after viewers complained that it “frizzed” her.

“I can understand that people felt that way and I certainly was disappointed that I didn’t have more to do, because I just loved the part so much,” she said.

“But in watching the film and reading the script, it felt like such an emotionally pivotal role in the film and the entire arc of his character in the film is set into motion because of what happens to my character.”

A tweet from Reynolds and the character’s roommate Leslie Uggams assured us that Blind Al would be back, and in March 2023, Uggams’ comeback was formally announced.

The same announcement also stated that Karan Soni would appear in a third Deadpool movie as Dopinder.

TJ Miller portrayed Weasel in the first two films, but he has stated that he would “rather they didn’t” produce a third. And if it implies he won’t return, we won’t be overly concerned.

Reynolds fueled speculation that Miss Minutes, the AI created by Loki for the Time Variance Authority, might appear in Deadpool 3. Deadpool responded to a tweet from Miss Minutes’ Twitter account with “Hello, Miss Minutes” after Deadpool tweeted at her.

Although there isn’t much else to say about this encounter, you can assume that enthusiasts took it to indicate that AI would be included.

Furthermore, if you were looking for Charlie Cox to appear as Daredevil in a future MCU crossover, you should give up because Cox has ruled out an appearance in Deadpool 3 in December 2023. He would say that, though, wouldn’t he?

Various Entertainment Seasons have upcoming release dates, discussed in the following articles:-

Deadpool 3 Plot: What Will the Film Be About?

“Looking to go in a completely different direction” is how Reynolds described the threequel, and he added jokingly: “Often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late.”

Even though the threequel’s initial director claimed it didn’t require an R rating to be fantastic, the film will indeed be certified R, so don’t worry about that. Deadpool has “established” itself as an R-rated franchise, Feige stated in February 2021.

Reese and Wernick pledged that the threequel wouldn’t be “Disney-fied” after they joined the project.

“They are gonna let Deadpool be Deadpool, you know? It’s not like any particular joke may be the one that they say: ‘You know, that’s too far’. That could happen, but to this point, it’s been nothing but support,” Reese reassured.

It’s unknown how the MCU link of the film will affect the story’s continuity with the original two films or if it’ll essentially be a soft reboot. Does this imply that Deadpool 3 will have a more significant emphasis on time travel?

When we last saw Negasonic Teenage Warhead, she was repairing Cable’s time machine so that Deadpool could make up for bad but hilarious professional decisions made by Ryan Reynolds in the past.

A Reese plot tease, the third Deadpool movie will explicitly confront that he is now in a different reality than before rather than retconning his MCU position.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for fish-out-of-water. Deadpool is a lunatic at the centre of a movie. To drop a lunatic into a very sane world, it’s straight butter. It’s going to be really fun,” Reese said.

Reynolds tweeted in January 2021 that the third film would be a Rashomon-style road trip with Deadpool and Wolverine before the Disney-Fox merger. This was before Jackman’s involvement was confirmed.

Will this now be the situation? In Rashomon, many characters relate to the tale of a samurai ki!!ed in a forest. Could the dead samurai in this scenario be Wolverine?

Feige has also set a high bar for the movie, comparing it to fellow MCU threequels. “How do we elevate it in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, and Infinity War and Ragnarok?” he said. “It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show.”

The only thing we truly know about the third film is that Wolverine and Deadpool, naturally, “hate each other.”

“I’m just talking from my perspective, [Logan’s] frustrated by him – [he] wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head,” Jackman noted. “Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”

When Will the Deadpool 3 Trailer Arrive?

The third movie is now under production, but a trailer won’t be available for some time. Reynolds will undoubtedly have a humorous social media post prepared for the shooting.
