Busy Philipps And Marc Silverstein Divorce: Is There Relationship Over?

Busy Philipps has spoken up about her divorce from Marc Silverstein after 15 years of marriage. Philipps disclosed in an episode of her podcast Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best on Friday, May 27, that she will divorce the screenwriter in February 2021.

While her two daughters, Birdie Leigh, 13, and Cricket Pearl, 8, were aware of the divorce, Philipps and Silverstein debated how to inform the rest of the world.

Philipps, 42, revealed their split on Friday’s episode of her podcast Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best, revealing that she and Silverstein, 50, would be splitting up in February 2021.

“It’s been a really long time that Marc and I have been separated, and our kids know, our families know, our friends know,” Philipps explained to cohost Caissie St. Onge.

The Dawsons Creek star said she and Silverstein were reluctant to make an official announcement the way many celebrity couples do.

“We couldn’t even think about putting one of those statements out. It made us sick, both of us, truly ill,” she said. “You can only do what’s right for you and your family, whether or not you have a public-facing life or you just post on Facebook or whatever.”

In the end, they opted to remain quiet to ensure the privacy of their children. “It’s a journey. Jour-ney. It’s been a journey,” Philipps said.

Philipps and Silverstein married on June 16, 2007, and have two children: Birdie Leigh (13), and Cricket Pearl (eight).

Philipps concurred when St. Onge said that Philipps and Silverstein are “the least separated separated people” she’s ever seen.

“Well, we love each other very much,” she admitted. “And we have these lovely children.” And there are a lot of things in our relationship that actually work.”

Philipps revealed her marital troubles in her 2018 memoir, This Will Only Hurt a Little, including her irritation with Silverstein’s hands-off attitude to parenting and a moment when she requested for a divorce.

Philipps currently stars in the musical comedy Girls5eva on Peacock. Her character Summer has split from her husband and is navigating single life in season 2.

In a recent interview with EW, Philipps said one of her favorite numbers of the new season is a flashback to a virginity-focused song with her former husband Kev (Andrew Rannells).

Girls5eva Season 2 debuted on May 5, and a new episode is released every Thursday.
