Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 5 aired in the US on Paramount Network on November 22, 2022.

The episode “Tall Drink of Water” started with a flashback to a young John Dutton dealing with wolves that threatened the ranch and the town.

In the present, when John is governor of Montana, he has to deal with wolves of a different kind as he tries to figure out his new job while possible enemies watch. The situation is similar to how geo-tagged wolves were killed by accident in episode 2.

Kayce is still sad about the death of his newborn son. He wants to keep busy and help his family, so he talks about becoming a Montana ranger. Sarah Atwood, a new corporate shark at Market Equities, keeps putting her teeth into the situation and focuses on the weak Jamie as a way to get into the Dutton family.

And finally, after doing some real estate business in Salt Lake City that will hurt Market Equities, Beth returns to the ranch and suggests that the bunkhouse crew go to a bar to celebrate Lloyd’s birthday.

The night starts fine, but as always in Yellowstone, it ends violently when Beth breaks a bottle over the head of a woman hitting on Rip.

Kyle Red Silverstein as Young Rip

In the episode’s flashbacks, we see more than just a young John. Kyle Red Silverstein comes back as a young Rip Wheeler.

The 20-year-old actor played Ethan Dawson on Grey’s Anatomy and has also been in Blended, Instant Mom, Black-ish, Sydney to the Max, and the anthology series American Horror Stories.

Dawn Olivieri as Sarah Atwood

Sarah Atwood was first seen in episode 2, and it seems likely that she will be a big problem for the Duttons in season 5.

She is played by actress Dawn Olivieri, who fans may know from her roles in House of Lies, SEAL Team, Den of Thieves, Lucifer, The Vampire Diaries, and Netflix’s Bright.

Kai Caster as Rowdy

Kai Caster is a big deal for season 5 because he has already been to Yellowstone. In the second season, he played a young Kayce Dutton.

Forrest Wilder as Young Lloyd

In season 5, Forrest Wilder, also known as Forrest Smith, plays a young Lloyd. He played the role before, in season 2, when he was older.

Even though Forrest’s part is small, he has been praised for being the perfect choice to play a young Lloyd. This isn’t surprising since the actor is the son of Forrie J. Smith, who played the older Lloyd.

Lainey Wilson as Abby

Ryan, a member of the bunkhouse crew, noticed Abby right away when she moved in during season 5.

Lainey Wilson, a country music singer and songwriter, plays the part. Yellowstone is her first time acting, though she did sing in the last scene of episode 3’s bar scene, so her singing skills were used.

Ashley Platz as Hailey Brewer

In episode 3, Hailey Brewer only had a small part because Beth was angry with her. But her character has the same last name as John’s assistant, Clara, so there could be a family connection later in the season that makes things difficult.

Ashley Platz, an actress with almost 60 credits to her name, will play the part. She has been in shows like NCIS, Atypical, The Bold Type, GLOW, 9-1-1, and Hawaii 5-0.

Matthew Jones as Sheriff Larsen

Lastly, we have Matthew Jones, a deputy in season 4 and now the new Sheriff Larsen in season 5. The actor has a lot of experience, even though most of his roles have been small. He has appeared in Bosch: Legacy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Ad Astra, Narcos: Mexico, NCIS, and General Hospital, among other shows.
