Garlin’s show, which occurred on the same day as the Vanity Fair interview was phone-free but a reporter in attendance reported that Garlin repeatedly told the audience how much he despised the show and that he didn’t want to discuss it, yet he continued to do so.

The Variety article continued by stating that Garlin claimed he was in trouble with ABC for comments he made on the set of The Goldbergs that he was fed up with. According to the reporter, the routine was predominately about The Goldbergs controversy and related issues. Again, no photos or videos were taken that night because cell phones were not permitted inside.

The Goldbergs Was Renewed For The Tenth Season

Deadline reports that just as it seemed like The Goldbergs would be canceled in 2022 along with other shows over the Jeff Garlin controversy, ABC decided to renew the comedy for a 10th season to air sometime that fall.

There has been no confirmation that The Goldbergs will return for a second season beyond the one set to premiere on September 21, 2022, however, it is not out of the question that the show will be renewed. There has been a spate of shows losing their leading actors in recent years and this one has now joined the ranks. ABC canceled Roseanne’s revival in 2018 after star Roseanne Barr made a controversial tweet but the show eventually returned as The Conners in the fall. Now in pre-production for Season 5, that show has come a long way.

Further, Barnow stated that the new season will focus more on the future than on the past.
