As the star of the brand-new Hulu sitcom How I Met Your Father, Hilary Duff is setting out on a quest to discover the love of her life—on television, that is. But in reality, Duff has already found her ideal spouse in Matthew Koma.
Sophie, played by Duff in HIMYF, is a modern woman looking for love. The story takes place in New York City in the present day. Duff said in May 2021:
“There’s great characters and I’m going to get to have another on-set family, and another TV family. And there’s so much opportunity for like, love stories with this show because it’s Sophie and then, three dudes… It’s going down that whole rabbit hole of like, well, which one was, was the one and which, who was the father.”

Koma has a strong résumé. The Long Island native has been working in the music business since the early 2010s, and she has teamed up with a whopping variety of rock, pop, electro, and country acts. Music, naturally, was what brought the two together. The two met on Koma’s 2015 album Breathe In. Breathe Out. and instantly clicked. A source at the time told Us Weekly that:

Duff later revealed to Vogue that their two-hour lunch at that time also cemented their bond.

On December 21, 2019, Duff and Koma married in their backyard in Los Angeles. The venue was simple. Duff wore two militant outfits: first, a fierce gold sequined dress, followed by a regal custom white dress by British designer Jenny Packham with sharp shoulders and cape-like sleeves.
The guests were mostly family and friends of the couple; in fact, Duff walked down the aisle while carrying her little daughter, Banks, and her younger co-star Molly Bernard officiated the ceremony. Following the ceremony, a dance party started inside the residence.
