MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two Memphis high school basketball teams are on probation from the TSSAA because of a fight during a game over the weekend.
According to wreg.com, The TSSAA, during a boy’s basketball game, a player from Wooddale pushed a player from the other team as he leaped toward the goal rim. The player from Raleigh-Egypt High School fell on his stomach after being pushed.
The TSSAA said a fight broke out and fans ran onto the court. When a loud firecracker went off at that time, fans and players ran for cover.

Both high schools were put on probation for two years and each had to pay a $2,000 fine.
Since neither school can play in the playoffs, Ridgeway moves on. The schools won’t be able to play until the 2025 season.
After a similar event in 2019, this is the second time Wooddale has been put on probation. In 2022, the girls’ basketball team from Raleigh-Egypt was also put on probation.
