Three People Including a Baby Die in Warrego Highway Crash Near Oakey

Three people died when their car was hit by two trucks on the Warrego Highway west of Brisbane. One of them was a one-year-old girl.

Queensland Police say that the three people were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday on the Oakey Creek Bridge on the Warrego Highway.

A 36-year-old passenger in the car also got hurt, but not badly enough to put her life in danger. He is helping the police find out about things.

All four were from the town of Roma in western Queensland.

According to Report, Police say that the car going east was hit first by the truck going the other way, and then by the second car going east.

“The sedan…had a lot of damage from the crash,” the police said.

The 20-year-old Kearneys Spring man driving the westbound truck was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The eastbound truck’s driver, a 55-year-old man from Brendale, was not hurt and is helping the police with their investigation.

The Forensic Crash Unit will look into what happened and has asked for witnesses to come forward, especially those with dashcam or CCTV footage of the crash or the moments before it.

The major highway will likely stay closed for a while, so drivers between Dalby and Toowoomba are being asked to find another way.
