Judkins spoke about how he changed several elements of the first book’s ending in an interview with Nerdist together with Brandon Sanderson, who co-wrote the last three books, and Robert Jordan’s widow, Harriet. Perhaps to improve the story and create something Jordan would have appreciated.
This necessitated changing the initially chaotic ending, in which other characters joined Rand at the Eye of the World to confront The Dark One. The plot was altered to give the other actors more to do, share some of his bouts in the pivotal conflict, and have it all happen at once.
