Catherine the Great drama has been renewed for a third season with 10 episodes. During Disney’s Television Critics Association winter press tour, the company made the announcement about the show.
From The Favourite showrunner and Elle Fanning, Maleficent, comes a satirical series about the longest-running woman emperor in Russia’s history. It’s fun to play with history in this lighthearted way. It was released in November, and the second season sees Catherine take the throne as she tries to bring more light to the country.
On the TV’s Top 5 podcast from the Hollywood Reporter back in November, McNamara said that he had no idea how long the show would run. There are a lot of things you can hang things on, he said. The moment, I try not to look too far down the road. I didn’t know what season three was at the end of season two.
I like not knowing what will happen next, because I like not knowing what will happen next. As long as you have a great cast and a great group of characters, you can come up with things as you go.
The second season has a 100% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is up for three Critics Choice Awards. Another actor in the show is Nicholas Hoult. Phoebe Fox and Adam Godley are also in it. Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Sacha Dhawan, Bayo Gbadamosi, and Belinda Bromilow also appear.
The Great comes from Civic Center Media and MRC Television. MRC is part of a joint venture with Penske Media called P-MRC.
