Stranger Things Star, ‘Noah Schnapp’ Comes Out As Gay

Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has come out as gay.

Schnapp posted a video to his TikTok with the caption, “When I finally told my family and friends I was gay after hiding it for 18 years, all they said was “We know.” The TikTok was set to play a message that said, “You know what it was never? That important. It was never really that bad. It will never get that bad.”

On the hit Netflix sci-fi show, the actor plays the gay character Will Byers, who hides his s*xuality. Will has a secret crush on Mike, his best friend (Finn Wolfhard). In the TikTok caption, Schnapp talks about Will’s s*xuality and says, “I guess I’m more like Will than I thought.”

Stranger Things fans have always wondered about Will’s s*xuality, especially after Mike told him in the middle of an argument, “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls.” At the time, Schnapp didn’t say much about it.

When the first episode of season four, volume one, came out on Netflix, Schnapp told People how Will would change during the season.

“I feel like people are used to seeing him fight a monster or struggle with the supernatural side of Stranger Things,” he said. “But this season is more about his struggles and how he tries to figure out who he is, which I think is interesting for the audience to see.”

In the next-to-last episode of season four, volume two, Will tells Mike he loves him, but he pretends to speak from Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) point of view instead of his own. He tells Mike that El has felt lost since Mike hasn’t been around and that she feels different from other people. He never says that he’s talking about himself.

Will tells Mike, “El needs you,” and then he turns and looks out the mirror while crying. “And she will always.”
