Stella Stevens, a well-known Hollywood actress who appeared in The Nutty Professor and Girls! Girls! Girls! Jerry Lewis has died at age 84, according to family members.
She had Alzheimer’s illness and had spent some time in a hospice, according to her son, who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter.
Her performance in the action film The Poseidon Adventure also sticks in people’s memories.
Stevens has contributed to television shows like Magnum, P.I., and Murder, She Wrote.
Her friend and manager, Maria Calabrese, said: “It was an honour and a privilege to have worked with Stella, who was one of the most wonderful and gifted people.”
Estelle Caro Eggleston, born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, in 1938, married electrician Noble Herman Stevens when she was 16 and gave birth to Andrew, her first and only child.
She was divorced two years later and started modeling and acting.
Following their discovery of her performing at her college in Memphis, Tennessee, 20th Century Fox signed her. Later, the studio let her go, but Paramount signed her.

Say One for Me, which featured Bing Crosby, Debbie Reynolds, and Stevens as chorus girls, was released in 1959 and awarded Stevens a Golden Globe for her acting debut.
Stevens claimed she disliked the storyline for the 1962 film Girls! Girls! Girls! in which she starred opposite Presley, but Paramount insisted she performs because of a contract.
In Too Late Blues, they had offered her a role opposite Montgomery Clift, the 1950s movie heartthrob and Oscar winner, but Clift was eventually replaced.
In the 1963 sci-fi comedy The Nutty Professor, Stevens played a student of Jerry Lewis’ inept university lecturer, one of her most enduring portrayals.
He creates a potion to turn himself into a captivating hunk to win her over.
The Poseidon Adventure, a shipwreck movie that became one of the biggest blockbusters of 1972, also featured Stevens as one-half of a newlywed couple. Her character died a horrible death.
Stevens was Playmate of the Month in January 1960 and a frequent model for Playboy.
Stevens maintained a consistent television career throughout the 1970s and 1980s, making appearances in Hart to Hart, The Love Boat, and Wonder Woman when she played a Nazi judo champion who believed she could defeat Lynda Carter’s title heroine.

The American Heroine (1979) and The Ranch (1989), starring her son, were two other movies she also directed.
Rock musician Bob Kulick, Stevens’ second spouse and partner of 37 years, passed away in May 2020.
His brother, Bruce – former guitarist for the US band Kiss – tweeted: “Legendary actress Stella Stevens, my brother’s longtime partner, passed away this morning from a long illness.”
“She is finally reunited with Bob today.”
