Starstruck Season 2 Release Date: Renewed or Cancelled?

It is the story of a chance encounter between an ordinary person and someone who is unimaginably famous: Jessie (Rose Matafeo) and movie star Tom Kapoor (Nikesh Patel) meet on New Year’s Eve and keep bumping into each other over the course of a year in the film Starstruck.

Slowly but steadily, each stumbling missed connection begins to blossom into a romantic relationship. In the aftermath of Jessie’s decision not to return to her home country of New Zealand, but instead, to remain in London with Tom, the second season picks up where the first left off.

Rose Matafeo portrays Jessie, a normal person who begins a romance with a well-known movie star in the film. Matafeo is well-known for her appearances on various panel shows, such as Would I Lie To You? and Taskmaster, as well as her comedy special Horndog and, possibly, her film Baby, Done.

Tom Kapoor, played by Nikesh Patel, is a famous actor who is completely taken by Jessie’s charm. Patel most recently appeared in the Christmas ghost story The Mezzotint, and he will next be seen in the horror/mystery The Devil’s Hour, which will premiere on Amazon Prime. Additionally, he previously appeared in the Doctor Who special Resolution for the New Year. Together with Emma Sidi (Pls Like) and Al Roberts (Stath Lettings), who play Jessie’s flatmate Kate and her boyfriend Ian, they make up the cast of “Jessie and the Waitress.”

Storyline:

After failing to complete the first season, Matafeo and her co-writers (Alice Snedden and Nic Sampson) realized that they needed to start over and complete the second season. In Matafeo’s words, “we were writing away from the most engaging component of what the story is about.” “It would take all of the breath out of the room if we were to time travel…there would be so much we’d lose out on.” Obviously, the most interesting aspect of the issue would be the immediate ramifications of such a rash action.”

While the first season had plenty of rom-com blueprints to follow, the second season had to forge its own path in order to succeed. Season 1 only had to demonstrate how Jessie and Tom are compatible with one another. Season 2’s challenge, on the other hand, was to figure out how and why these two wildly disparate people would choose to be together. Making things even more strange was the fact that Season 1, which concludes with Jessie and Tom remaining on the bus, was released the day before Season 2, which begins with Jessie and Tom departing the bus, began filming on the same set.

The actress recalls, “We never actually intended to start it directly after [the Season 1 finale], so we basically had to go back and get the exact same bus and exact same clothes on,” Matafeo explains. In Southbank, which is a very touristic area of London, we were shooting everything in the same costume in the same location, and people who had seen the performance recognized us. It was surreal to be recognized for something that had only recently been released while wearing the exact same outfit.”

For others who are interested in the same costume, Patel thought he was “very clever” when he inquired about keeping his jacket from the season finale sequence, not expecting that he would wind up requiring it again for the premiere, let alone all of the Season 2 promotional appearances. “I’m never going to be able to wear that jacket again!” he groans.

Matafeo is on board with it if it helps him feel better in any way. “I completely regret not giving more thought to my costume for the final scene of Series 1, knowing that I would have to wear it for an entire episode of Series 2,” she says. “I fully regret not giving more thought to my costume for the final scene of Series 1, knowing that I would have to wear it for an entire episode of Series 2.” The weather was “fucking hot” when they shot the premiere, despite the fact that it was supposed to be winter. My hair absorbs a great deal of heat! Because of the heat, I’d essentially turned like a solar panel, and I’d wilted.”

Starstruck Season 2 Reviews:

Matafeo’s voice is completely distinctive and the show is her voice, so I look forward to future seasons of Starstruck offering an effervescent escape from the gloomy norm.

Season 2 of Starstruck takes the show from the novelty of the star-regular-person dynamic of the first season and concentrates on the chemistry of the ensemble, which is the sign of a maturing show.

The reason why romantic comedies never have sequels is that either everything is going well with the couple and there’s nothing to watch. Or, there is conflict and the original love story is ruined. Starstruck’s second season suffers from the latter.
