Starship Troopers Video Game Announced: When Will It Release?

A new Starship Troopers video game will be available early on Steam in 2023. The game, which is called Starship Troopers: Extermination, is a first-person shooter in which teams of 12 players face off against huge bug threats. Players can choose from three classes: Assault, Support, and Defense. They will also be able to unlock new gear and perks. The game will have five different kinds of bugs and five different zones on the map. There aren’t many other details, but right now, the game is only set to come out on PC. The game’s developer, Offworld Industries, has not ruled out a console release.

The company wrote on Twitter, “Right now, we’re working on getting this game into Early Access on Steam, but you never know what the far future will bring.”

Some movie fans will be disappointed that the game isn’t coming out on consoles. A different Starship Troopers game came out only on PC just a few months ago.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command came out in June and is based on the franchise. It is a real-time strategy game. Console users have been left wanting twice now, but hopefully, Offworld Industries will think about the option at some point in the future.

Starship Troopers Video Game Trailer

For now, PC gamers looking forward to the game can watch the trailer below.

Back in 1997, Starship Troopers came out in theatres. Most reviewers didn’t get the movie’s satire of military culture and fascism, directed by Paul Verhoeven. As a result, the film didn’t do well at the box office. But the movie became a cult favorite and led to sequels, comics, and a number of video games. It’s not clear yet if Starship Troopers: Extermination will live up to the high expectations fans have for the series, but it looks good! If you want to know more about the game and how to play it when it comes out early, you can check out its Steam page here.
