Star Trek: Picard season 3 potential Release Date Status, Cast, Plot and Everything You Need To Know!

The American television series Star Trek: Picard chronicles Jean-Luc Picard’s return to the former crew of the USS Enterprise in its third and final season. CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, Weed Road Pictures, and Roddenberry Entertainment are all involved in the season’s production, with Terry Matalas serving as showrunner.

Star Trek: The Next Generation and other Star Trek works include Patrick Stewart in the role of Picard. LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, and Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd are all back from The Next Generation. By January 2020, a third season has been informally greenlit, allowing it to be filmed simultaneously with the second. Production on the second season began in California in February 2021, and continued through the summer until the entire transition to filming the third season in September. Stewart soon made the season official, and production is expected to wrap up in March of 2022. One month later, the return of the rest of the Next Generation ensemble was confirmed, and Matalas planned to make this season a fitting conclusion to Picard’s journey and the Next Generation cast as a whole.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 release date: When will it air?

As was noted, filming season three so soon after season two was difficult for everyone involved, especially Patrick Stewart. After the conclusion of season two, the fan-favorite captain told Variety that production on season three had ended in March of 2022. Sir Patrick said he was “still healing from it” five weeks later, which has us quite excited about what’s to come.

Sir Patrick remarked, “It was really intense.” “Season two completed up its 10 episodes at 7 p.m., and we started filming Season three at the same time the following day. And that’s how things stayed for the next year and a half. For sure more than a year.”

This means that, after accounting for post-production and previous release schedules, we anticipate the series will hit screens in early 2023. We are now in June of 2022, and there has been no announcement. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything for definite..

Star Trek: Picard season 3 Cast

Star Trek: Picard season 3. In a shocking turn of events, four regular cast members have left Star Trek: Picard after its second season. However, Picard’s former crewmates from the Enterprise-D are joining as “notable guests.” The showrunners were cautious to stress that these won’t be cameos or minor roles like we saw with Riker and Troi’s debut in season one. This will be a “proper send-off” because they will be integral to the plot.

DEPARTING CAST

These main cast members left at the conclusion of season 2:

  • Alison Pill as Agnes Jurati/Borg Queen
  • Evan Evagora as Elnor
  • Isa Briones as Soji Asha/Kore Soong
  • Santiago Cabrera as Captain Christopher Rios

Orla Brady is almost certainly returning for season 3 but likely won’t be a major character. She stated that she’d be taking off her “beloved pointed ears” after filing on season 2 wrapped. However, showrunner Terry Matalas responded on Twitter to a fan asking if we’ll get to see Laris and Jean Luc together in season 3 with, “Yes. But…”

RETURNING CAST

The list of returning main cast members is rather small:

  • Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard
  • Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine
  • Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker

Star Trek Picard season 3

Star Trek: Picard season 3 plot: What will happen?

After the season two conclusion, Patrick Stewart gave EW an interview in which he dropped hints about the Next Generation cast’s return in season three. We’ll see them again, but it won’t be a traditional reunion. There’s more at play here than a simple reunion. Everyone serves a purpose, and that’s about all I can say about Season 3, which is shaping out to be quite intriguing in my opinion. And naturally, there will be a lot of focus on the maturation of the characters we’ve come to know and love.

While specifics on the plot of season three remain unknown at this time, Stewart has hinted that it could be the most exciting yet.

One of the things I remember saying when I first read the season two finale was, “Where the heck are we going from here?” Simply put, it appeared as though everything were winding down. At first I was terrified that we would finish shooting too soon and the show would be over before it even started. However, we did not. And season three proved to me to be among the most engaging of episodes and moments that we had in the entire programme in many aspects.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 trailer: When can we expect it?

You can see not only Patrick Stewart, Jeri Ryan, and Michelle Hurd in their roles as Picard, Seven of Nine, and Raffi, but also Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis as Will Riker and Deanna Troi, Michael Dorn as Worf, LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forge, and Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher in the trailer. Brent Spiner will also be returning, though his character isn’t revealed in the teaser.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 trailer won’t be released until at least early 2023 unless Q returns to mess with time again. Yet, we are keeping an eye and ear open so that we may report back to you as soon as we receive further information.
