The character had a lot of say but this was Lee’s best work ever. He started as a model and soon became an actor. Besides, he was a part of iconic films like “The Last Witness”, “Il Mare” and “Typhoon”. But the “Squid Game” actor got global fame with his role in the latest Netflix hit series.
Park Hae-soo as Cho Sang-woo
Hae-soo has his massive break in 2017’s “Prison Playbook” which led to him winning Best New Actor at The Seoul Awards. The “Squid Game” actor was also in the Korean version of “Money Heist”. And in “Squid Game”, he is shown as a gifted student who once was the head of an investment team. However, on getting caught stealing his client’s money, he became wanted by the police. Thus, he joined the game to pay off his debts.
HoYeon Jung as Kang Sae-byeok
This was Jung’s first ever acting role after becoming popular in Korea’s Next Top Model. From walking for shows like Chanel and Louis Vuitton to being a part of a hit series, Jung’s career really took off after this. She plays a North Korean defector who is playing the game to get her family from North Korea.
Anupam Tripathi as Abdul Ali
The Indian-born Tripathi is one of the most famous “Squid Game” actors who are non-Korean. It was his big break and before this, he was in Space Sweepers. He won hearts by being an honest migrant worker in the series who is from Pakistan. After losing his fingers in a factory accident, his company never compensated him. So, he decides to participate in the game for his wife and family in Pakistan.
Oh Young-soo as Oh Il-Nam
Being the eldest player amongst the “Squid Game” actors, little did the characters know that he is the Old Man in Squid Game. He suffers from a brain tumor and is player 001. Though he looks helpless, he is actually the one operating this dangerous game.
Heo Sung-tae as Jang Deok-su
Sung-tae is already known for playing the roles of villains. His popularity came after “The Age of Shadows” and “Racket Boys and the Fortress”. As the storyline for “Squid Game” continues, he joined the game because of his huge gambling debt and he is trying to escape from his crime lord boss.
Kim Joo-ryung as Han Mi-nyeo
This “Squid Game” actor initially gained fame for her iconic roles in “Kingmaker: The Change of Destiny” and “When My Love Blooms”. As a matter of fact, in “Squid Game” she is a mysterious and crazy, poor single mother who wants to survive the game as she deserves it.
Wi Ha-joon as Hwang Jun-ho
A regular face in Korean films and dramas like “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum”, and more, Ha-joon plays Hwang who is a police officer. He is in search of his brother and believes that the game has a connection to his brother’s disappearance. Thus, he goes undercover in the game.
Lee Byung-hun as The Front Man
We all wanted to see the face under the mask and in episode eight-episode, we got to see it. Interestingly, he is the missing brother of Hwang. Apart from being a “Squid Game” actor, he has been a part of high-grossing films like “Inside Men”, “Master and The Good, the Bad, the Weird” and many more.
Lee Yoo-mi as Ji-Yeong
Number 240 whose bond with Sae-byeok left a lasting impression, had to be behind bars for killing her father. Prior to this, she was in “Doctor John,” “Hostage: Missing Celebrity” and many other acting gigs.
