Rihanna Headlining Super Bowl 2023 Halftime Show

The singer confirmed that she will be the halftime show performer at the 2023 Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona, by posting a picture of herself holding a football on her Instagram feed on Sunday. The picture was posted without a caption just a few hours after TMZ said Rihanna was in talks to be the main act at next year’s national championship game.

“IT’S ON. @rihanna will take the stage for the first ever Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show on 2.12.23,” Apple Music added in their own tweet. “#SBLVII @NFL@NFLonFOX @RocNation.”

The NFL and Roc Nation, which has helped put on the halftime show for the past few years, both tweeted the same picture with the words “Let’s Go” and the hashtag “SBLVII.” After hearing the exciting news, Jay-Z, the founder of Roc Nation, said the following:

“Rihanna is one of the best singers of her generation. She came from a humble background but has always exceeded expectations.” Someone who was born on the small island of Barbados and went on to become one of the most famous artists of all time. He made it on his own in business and show business.”

In his statement, Seth Dudowsky, who is in charge of music for the NFL, said that Rihanna is “a once-in-a-generation artist” who has been “a cultural force” throughout her career. “We’re excited to work with Rihanna, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to give fans another unforgettable Halftime Show performance,” he said. Rihanna, who is 34, was asked to perform at the Atlanta Super Bowl LIII halftime show.

She turned it down, though, because the way the NFL treated Colin Kaepernick at the time was causing a lot of trouble. The former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers took a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality and social injustice. This was both praised and criticized.

“I wouldn’t go that far. What for? Who does that help? Not my folks. I just couldn’t be a sellout. Rihanna told Vogue in October 2019 that she couldn’t be a “pushover.” “There are things in that group that I completely disagree with, so I wasn’t going to go help them in any way.” Ultimately, Adam Levine’s pop-rock band Maroon 5 and special guests Big Boi and Travis Scott stole the show.

Rihanna’s performance will follow that of Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, who all played at Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., in 2022. After having her first child, a boy, with A$AP Rocky in May, the “Diamonds” singer has had a busy year. Still, her fans patiently await news about her ninth studio album, which will come out after 2016’s “Anti.”

The Super Bowl LVI will be held at State Farm Stadium on February 12, 2023,
