REDFALL Release Date: When Will The Game Be Announced?

Arkane Austin the company that made Prey and the Dishonored games, is making a new open-world co-op FPS called Redfall. In this new IP, you fight vampires in a post-apocalyptic town that has a fun retro horror look. You can do this alone or with up to three other players as you try to figure out why the vampires are there.

You’ll be able to choose from four heroes, each of whom has unique skills that work well with the others. You’ll also have access to a variety of weapons for hunting vampires, which should make your quest even more fun. We now know a lot more about what to expect because Redfall was at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. We can’t wait to play Arkane’s co-op shooter, even though we’ll have to wait a little longer than we were told before.

REDFALL Release Date And Platform

Redfall is set to come out for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC in the first half of 2023. It will also be on Xbox Game Pass from the start. Even though it won’t work on the old Xbox One, anyone who hasn’t upgraded to Microsoft’s latest console can still play it through Xbox Cloud Gaming. If you have a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, that is.

Arkane’s co-op shooter was supposed to come out in “Summer 2022,” but in May 2022, Bethesda said there would be a delay. Along with a delay for Starfield, we were told that both games would not come out until “the first half of 2023.” It said that the teams at Arkane Austin and Bethesda Game Studios “have huge goals for their games, and we want to make sure you get the best, most polished versions of them.”

It looks like Redfall has been in the works for at least a few years. A trademark dispute between Zenimax, which owns Bethesda, and author Jay Falconer brought the name “Redfall” to light a few years ago.

Redfall was thought to be the title of The Elder Scrolls 6 at the time. This is because the name sounds like both Daggerfall, a kingdom in The Elder Scrolls’ world of Tamriel, and the Redguards, a race in the series.

REDFALL Trailer

Microsoft gave us our first in-depth look at Redfall gameplay at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase in June 2022. It started with a lone hunter checking out an abandoned church. This showed the game’s focus on co-op play and gave hints about the story. This is shown in action below:

 Official announcement Of Trailer
The first trailer for Redfall was a beautiful piece of CG, and while it didn’t show any gameplay, we were still able to get a good idea of what to expect from the game. Look at it here:

REDFALL Story And Setting

The website for Redfall tells us a little bit about the game’s story, setting, and the larger-than-life characters who live there. The enemies in the game who look like vampires are actually science experiments that went horribly wrong. By blocking out the sun, these creatures have cut off the town of Redfall from the rest of the world. Bethesda says that the vampires you’ll face in Redfall include “sneaky vampires that grab you and pull you away from your team,” “hulking vampires that can tear you and your team to pieces,” and “Godlike vampires that are strong enough to block out the sun.”

In the first trailer, we saw that there is a group of humans who worship the vampires. So, it looks like firefights will often have us fighting both kinds of enemies, and maybe even a few more, at the same time.

REDFALL GamePlay

The official website for Redfall calls the game a “cooperative, story-driven FPS experience,” and it will be played from a first-person perspective There are four playable heroes in the game. Here’s what Bethesda says about them:

RedFall Gameplay
RedFall Gameplay
  • Layla Ellison: A biomedical engineering student who interned at a research facility, where something went very wrong, leaving her with intense telekinetic abilities.
  • Jacob Boyer: An ex-military sharpshooter turned private contractor. Strange happenings on Redfall have left Jacob with a mysterious vampiric eye and a spectral raven that’s never far from his side.
  • Remi de la Rosa: A brilliant combat engineer who has spent her life on the frontlines. With the help of her robot cohort, Bribón, she’s determined to help rescue Redfall’s survivors.
  • Devinder Crousley: A cryptozoologist and aspiring inventor. Armed with weapons of his own creation, he’s on a mission to prove himself.

You can choose from these four playable heroes, each of whom has a unique personality and set of skills that you can improve as you play. You can also try out different ways to play and different ways to equip weapons. Redfall will have “seamless single-player and multiplayer options,” according to its website. This means that the player can go into the darkness alone or with up to three friends for a four-player co-op.

The word “seamlessly” suggests that Redfall could have a drop-in co-op system that would let players join someone else’s game without having to go back to the main menu. On the official website, it says that you can build your characters for solo play, which is good for both types of players.

We don’t just have to worry about vampires, either. According to Bethesda, they’ve also made a small army of cultists who are “well-armed and ready to die for the vampires.” This is what the Redfall website says about them. We’ll need to be careful now that we’ve set up bases and patrol routes across this island.

The Redfall website also says that the game’s open world will be a “setting that responds to your choices and actions” Before the island is safe again, there are cult bases and “twisted psychic spaces” called Nests that need to be taken care of. Ricardo Bare, who is in charge of creativity, tells us:

When players aren’t doing main story missions, they can help Redfall by taking back neighborhoods from vampires and people who worship them.” It looks like Arkane’s love of in-the-moment gameplay and choices will carry over to Redfall, and we’re interested to see how far our choices will go in the final game.
