Rapper Fetty Wap Convicted of Dr*g Trafficking, Sentenced To 6 Years In Pr!son

Fetty Wap, the rapper, was sentenced to six years in Jail on Wednesday for his role in a large-scale dr*g trafficking scheme in which narcotics were trafficked from the West Coast and distributed in New Jersey and Long Island.

Willie Junior Maxwell II, the rapper’s valid name, was sentenced in federal court in Central Islip, New York, for conspiracy to distribute c0caine.

Maxwell, from Paterson, New Jersey, was arrested in October 2021 on suspicion of participating in a dr*g smuggling conspiracy, including her0in, fentanyl, and other dr*gs.

In August, he pleaded guilty to a significant conspiracy charge to distribute and possess controlled narcotics relating to c0caine. The amount included a mandatory minimum pr!son sentence of five years.

The rapper, widely known for his 2015 single “Trap Queen,” apologized in court. “I hurt my community, people who look up to me, my family, and myself,” he admitted. “I sincerely apologize for any harm I may have caused.”

While pronouncing Maxwell’s punishment, Judge Joanna Seybert said, “Despite your background and all you overcame, you threw it all away.”

Maxwell was sentenced to five years of post-release supervision and six years in federal pr!son. NBC News has contacted his attorneys for comment.

Prosecutors had requested a heavier sentence than the minimum, claiming that Maxwell exploited his celebrity and influence to “glamorize the dr*g trade.”

They said the singer rose to prominence after singing about his experiences making crack c0caine and selling dr*gs. Prosecutors noted that the “Trap Queen” video showed him with small children behind him as he “idealized selling dr*gs.”

Prosecutors said Maxwell was part of an operation that distributed over 100 kilograms of c0caine, her0in, fentanyl and crack c0caine across Long Island and New Jersey from June 2019 to June 2020.

Prosecutors claimed the organization obtained the dr*gs on the West Coast and transported them to Suffolk County for storage via the mail service and drivers with secret vehicle compartments. The pills were then supplied to dealers across Long Island and New Jersey.

Prosecutors said Maxwell was a “kilogram-level redistributor” for the gang.

During the investigation, investigators seized $1.5 million in cash, 16 kilograms of c0caine, two kilograms of her0in, countless fentanyl pills, and multiple firearms and ammunition. Five of the defendants in the case, according to prosecutors, used guns to protect the narcotics organization and distribution network.

Six people were charged with the plot, with four pleading guilty and awaiting sentencing. Anthony Cyntje, a New Jersey pr!sons officer, was sentenced to 72 months in Jail in March for his role in the plot.

Maxwell rocketed to notoriety after his debut hit, “Trap Queen,” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 2015. For the collision, he was nominated for two Grammys.
