It has been decided not to move further with the reality competition series Million Dollar Island, which was scheduled to be produced by the broadcast network. Before it was decided to put the series on hold, there was a widespread belief that casting for the project that had been announced in March had already begun.

Following the revelation that NBCUniversal unscripted leader Jenny Groom will be leaving the broadcaster in the midst of a shake-up in the alternative team, it is speculated that former Turner Networks exec Corie Henson will replace her as the head of alternative programming.

The American version was being produced by the same firm that developed The Voice as well as Studio Lambert, which is a British production behemoth known for programs like The Circle and Undercover Boss. The Dutch version was produced by John De Mol’s Talpa. Both of these versions were based on the same format that was used in Dutch.

According to the information that has been brought to our attention, Studio Lambert and Talpa are now making presentations of the series to a number of additional broadcasters.

There were going to be a total of one hundred competitors taking part in the competition, and while they were doing so, they were going to interact with one another, form relationships with one another, and make plans to stay on an isolated desert island for as long as fifty days while also competing against one another for a million dollar grand prize.

When the competitors checked in, they were going to be given a bracelet that had a value of $10,000 attached to it. During their time on the island, contestants have the option to earn or lose bracelets by taking part in a number of activities. However, before a player can leave the island, they are expected to make a decision regarding who will get their portion of the prize money.
