NYC Dreamers Buy Mega Millions Lottery Tickets As Jackpot Hits $830M

Tuesday, people who want to be millionaires and dream of winning nine figures rushed to buy tickets for the Mega Millions lottery, which has the 4th largest jackpot in US history at $830 million.

“Today I’ll play. Ritchie Brown of Astoria, Queens, said, “We’ll see how it goes and see if I go to work on Monday.”

Brown went to Lucky Pizzeria near the Queensboro Plaza subway stop to buy five lottery tickets. He hopes that his numbers will come up in Tuesday’s 11 p.m. drawing, making him almost a billionaire.

“I’ve had some bad luck, so I don’t really gamble. But for $800 million, it’s worth taking a chance,” the 56-year-old said, adding that he only buys a ticket when the jackpot is more than $300 million.

Chandra Seward was in Harlem buying tickets, but she didn’t think she had a good chance of winning.

“Understand, don’t nobody hit unless they live in West bumblef–k and they already retired and already established,” she told The Post.

Seward, who is 59 years old, usually plays scratch-off games, but he was tempted by the huge jackpot. Around 12:30 p.m., she bought a lottery ticket in west Harlem. She plans to go uptown later and buy another one.

On Friday night, the winning numbers were 14, 40, 60, 64, and 66. The number of the Mega Ball was 16.

Four lucky people who bought tickets won a total of $1 million. Three of them also won the Megaplier, making their total prize worth $3 million.

Yomar Santos, who works at the Luna Deli in Harlem and is 33 years old, said that he sold $50 to $80 more lottery tickets on Tuesday than he usually does.
