Meagan Good And DeVon Franklin To Divorce: ‘Most Excruciating Thing I Have Ever Experienced’

Meagan Good has opened up about her divorce from her husband DeVon Franklin. The couple was married for nine years.

In a Twitter Spaces chat with XONecole, the actress said she’s “grieving” her divorce.

“In my life, I’ve always approached relationships with the assumption that they’ll get to the point where they’re going to, and then they’ll be over,” Good remarked.

“I’ve always had the mindset, ‘OK, next chapter.” We’ll see what happens next,’ and being good with that, appreciating what you give to someone and what they give to you, and sharing a moment in time and in life that you can never get back no matter how it ends.”

However, she believed her marriage to Franklin would be different, expecting they would be married for the rest of her life. Good described her divorce as “the most traumatic thing I’ve ever encountered,” yet she remains “optimistic.” I am still optimistic about the future. I’m still unsure if this is a chapter, but I believe it’s my next act in life, and I believe in God.”

She continued trusting God, saying, “Not everything makes sense to me right now, but… I’m excited to see what this next act of life is going to be and what God has in store, and that’s all I can do, but even in doing that, I do have gratitude and so much joy in my heart for these past 11 years that DeVon and I have been together,” said Good. “What he’s given into my life and what I was able to give to him, just everything.”

Gia Peppers moderated the discussion, including Grace Byers and Shoniqua Shandai from Amazon Prime’s Harlem. The discussion touched on various themes, including goal-setting, love, and the TV show.

Good and Franklin issued a joint statement on their divorce late last month, telling People, “After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to walk into our futures separately but forever together.” “We are celebrating over a decade of marriage and eternal love.” Nobody is to blame; we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our relationship.”

Harlem debuted on Amazon Prime in early December and starred Jerrie Johnson and Tyler Lepley. Executive-produced by Pharrell Williams and Amy Poehler, the show follows four Black women living in Harlem, New York, navigating life’s complexities.
