Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso have been married for nearly two decades and have two children. They met in 2003 at the bar where Barroso worked and immediately hit it off.
They married two years later and have three daughters: Isabella, Gia, and Stella. Damon also adopted Alexia, Barroso’s daughter.

The pair were seen smiling at a New York Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden the following month. Damon was dressed casually in a black shirt, while Barroso wore a New York Knicks baseball cap.

How Did Matt Damon & Luciana Barroso Meet?
The couple’s first meeting was straight out of a romantic comedy. Damon revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that they met in Miami in 2003 while he was filming the film Stuck on You.
“I literally saw her across a crowded room,” he remembered. “That’s my life now, eight years and four children later. I’m not sure how our paths would have crossed if that hadn’t happened.”
Barroso remembers things a little bit differently. She discussed their first encounter during a rare interview with Vogue Australia in 2018.
At the time, Barroso was a bartender, and Damon and his film crew came in for a drink. “Matt’s story is that he saw me across the room, and there was a light on me. And she said, ‘Yeah, it was a nightclub — there were lights everywhere!’ ” she said.
Damon then went behind the bar to escape the crowd. “He started getting recognized, and people started asking for pictures and autographs, and then it got kind of aggressive because people were drinking and stuff,” she explained. “So he hid behind the bar… [wanting] to hang out and drink back there. ‘Oh, I saw you and wanted to talk to you,’ he says.”
However, Barroso decided to put the actor to work. “You know, if you’re going to be back here, you can’t just stand there!” she told him.
“He had previously trained as a bartender for a film, so he began making drinks. And he made me a lot of money in tips that night because everyone wanted to see him, “She went on. “So it turned into an enjoyable night, and now we’re here 15 years later!”

When Did They Get Married?
Damon and Barroso married in December 2005 after dating for two years. Damon’s first marriage and Barroso’s second, as she had previously married Alexia’s biological father.
Damon reflected on marriage and revealed the secret to their long-lasting relationship ahead of the couple’s tenth anniversary.
“I’m fortunate to have met my wife,” the actor told Entertainment Tonight. “I suppose if there’s any secret… it’s to feel lucky.” He went on, “Marriage is insane, in my opinion.
It’s a crazy thought, but I enjoy being married to my wife. As a result, I wouldn’t tell anyone else about their relationship.”
