Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Release Date, PS5 Exclusive Details

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is in the works, and it’s definitely one of the PS5 games we’re most looking forward to. Why do we feel so happy? Because Insomniac Games has made some of the best PS5 games so far, we want to know more about this massively expanded sequel.

We’re lucky that there are already a lot of details out there to help us pass the time. During the 2021 PlayStation Showcase, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was announced. We got our first look at Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who will be back, as well as hints about the new bad guys who will be terrorizing New York City. In the meantime, keep reading to find out everything we know about the game so far.

When Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Come Out On PS5?

The most likely date for the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is 2023. That might seem a long way off, but since its first game came out in 2018, Insomniac has been very busy. Not only did the studio release Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales as a PS5 launch title (along with a remaster of the original game), but it has also been hard at work on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is one of the best PS5 games right now. People think Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been in production for about a year, so Insomniac has a lot of time to make a good sequel by 2023.

Will Spider-Man 2 Be on PS4?

No, Marvel’s Spider-Man will not come out for the PS4. The new Spider-Man 2 game can only be played on the PS5. Insomniac is excited to be “pushing the capabilities of the console” in an adventure that will “continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.” After Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart came out as a platform-exclusive game, Insomniac has turned its attention to the PS5 as it tries to push the limits of third-person action-adventure games.

Who Is Making Spider-Man 2 For Marvel?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is being made by the same team at Insomniac that won an award for making  Spider-Man in 2018. Bryan Intihar will be back as creative director, and Ryan Smith will be back as game director. The two of them have worked on a lot of games over the years, from the Resistance series to Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive. Peter and Miles will be played by Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter, respectively. It looks like the same group of people who worked on Spider-Man: Miles Morales will now work on Marvel’s Wolverine, another Insomniac project.

Will Spider-Man 2 Have Venom?

So far, only Venom has been named as a bad guy in Spider-Man 2. This time, the voice of an iconic sparring partner is done by none other than the legendary actor Tony Todd, who may be best known for his scary role as Candyman. We know that Venom won’t be the only danger the Spider-Men will have to deal with. Insomniac has talked about “the bad guys who will try to track down” Peter and Miles. Note the plural. Many bad guys could show up, but The Lizard and Green Goblin are the most likely. The reveal trailer starts with a speech about how great it is to hunt…

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Characters

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac says it wants to “deliver a compelling human story, one full of heart and humor that dives deep into the people behind the mask.” In the two games we’ve seen so far, Peter, who is eight years into his career, and Miles, who is still young but has shown he can do the job, have demonstrated that they can protect New York when it needs it most. It will be interesting to see if the two heroes can live in the same city together or if their different ideas and past experiences with bad guys will drive them apart.

 Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Trailer

In September 2021, the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 reveal trailer was shown at the PlayStation PS5 Showcase. You can watch it above. It gives us our first look at Peter Parker and Miles Morales working together to clear the streets of enemies before turning to face a villain hiding in the shadows, who turns out to be Venom, whose voice is done by Tony Todd, who played Candyman. The footage was taken on a PS5, a release window of 2023 has been set, and yes, it looks gorgeous. It’s essential to pay attention to both brawlers’ animations because you can tell how experienced and agile Peter and Miles are by how they move. We want the final game to have the same kind of careful attention to detail.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Suits

Given how much extra content was in Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it’s good to hear that Insomniac is working hard on new suits and abilities for the sequel. At this early stage, it’s still not clear what they will be. Ryan Schneider, the head of the franchise strategy at Insomniac, has said that the trailer is “just a taste” of what’s to come in terms of the new powers our heroes will get, the suits they’ll wear (more on that later), and the bad guys who will try to catch them.
