Kris Jordan, an Ohio state legislator, died unexpectedly on February 26, 2023, at the age of 46. Representative Jordan, a Republican from Delaware County, was in his third term. He previously served in the California Senate for eight years.

According to a news release from the Ohio governor’s office, Kris Jordan went away “unexpected[ly]” from an unidentified cause. Ohio Governor DeWine ordered that all flags be flown at half-staff on all public grounds and buildings in Delaware County and at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes Tower, today and up until sundown on the day of his funeral.

Governor Mike DeWine said–

“Fran and I are shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Representative Kris Jordan. We extend our sincerest condolences to his entire family for this most unexpected loss. Kris will be remembered for his expertise as a legislator and his advocacy for the people of Delaware County.”

State Rep. Kris Jordan passed away today of natural causes. Kris has been a friend of mine since the early 90s. Together we created the first Teenage Republican Club in Delaware County, and he was the first president.

“Through the years, we have given one another political advice, been friends, and always talked regularly. He truly cared about the cause of liberty and promoted small government policies as a county commissioner, State Senator and State Representative,” Brenner said. “His death is a great loss to our county’s Republican Party, the Ohio Statehouse and the conservative movement.”
