Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romance and love, especially for grieving people. Rolling Up the Welcoming Mat, a six-track EP by Kelsea Ballerini that was released on February 14 along with a short film, perfectly portrays that emotion.
The 20-minute clip opens with “Mountain With a View,” where the 29-year-old sits alone at a breakfast table as the country diva describes the heartbreak of her divorce from fellow country singer Morgan Evans.
She sings, “I’m still wearing the ring, but I think I’m lying / Sometimes you forget yours / I think we’ve given up trying.”

Before concluding with the reflective “Leave Me Again,” in which she sings, “For a while the shoe fit / But then I outgrew it / And staying only made me get real good at pretend / So, I hope I never leave me again,” she next visually portrays the equally emotional tracks “Just Married,” “Penthouse,” “Interlude,” and “Blindsided.”
Ballerini first revealed her separation from Evans in an Instagram Story in August 2022. “I’ve always tried to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold,” she wrote in the all-text message. “This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce.”
While jointly hosting the CMC Awards in Australia in March 2016, the couple got to know one another. In December of that year, they got engaged, and on December 2, 2017, they got married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
