Kathy Griffin Provides A ‘Extreme’ Health Update In a New Video

The comedian revealed how a horrific encounter in 2017 led to mental health issues. Kathy Griffin is offering fans an essential update about her mental health.

The comedian announced the news in a TikTok video posted earlier this week, in which she stated she’s been diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder.

“Okay TikTok, let’s talk about it then: let’s talk about PTSD,” she said at the beginning of the video.

Griffin went on to say, “I never talked about it publicly.” I believe this is the best spot to accomplish it because I’ve seen so many videos about it…Anyway, you can laugh or cry about it, but I’ve been diagnosed with complex PTSD, which they refer to as an extreme case.”

She then invited fans to share their own experiences with PTSD, asking for their tips on how to cope.

“If any of you know my story, you’ll understand that this really started for me about 5 and 1/2 years ago,” she said, in reference to the immense backlash she received for her controversial photoshoot featuring her holding a prop made to look like Donald Trump’s bloodied, decapitated head.

As a result of the photos, the comedian was fired from her New Year’s Eve co-hosting gig at CNN and her stand-up shows were canceled. She was also added to the no-fly list and the “kill list” of convicted domestic terrorist Cesar Sayoc.

Griffin made a second video thanking her followers for their support a few days after her TikTok about her PTSD diagnosis. She also discussed her panic attacks, adding that she usually has them in the morning, with the pressure starting in her chest and extending to her stomach, causing nausea.

“So far today I’m okay, and that’s how it is. I just kind of never know; it’s day by day,” she said at the end of the TikTok.

Through part of this time, Griffin has also been dealing with a lung cancer diagnosis, which she says undoubtedly “didn’t help.”
