Lionsgate Is Interested in a Major John Wick Video Game Adaptation

Lionsgate is making two more John Wick movies, and a “big AAA game” based on the franchise is also reportedly in the works.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said today during an earnings call that the company has been talking about ideas for the game, but nothing is set in stone yet.

“I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but we think ‘John Wick‘ could be a big AAA game,” Feltheimer said on the call, according to a report by IndieWire. “We’ve been asking for ideas. We definitely want to move forward with that, but I don’t want to say anything else about it right now.”

IndieWire said that if Lionsgate makes the game, it will be the first time that the action-packed franchise has been made into a AAA game. Bithell Games has already made a strategy game based on the John Wick movies called John Wick Hex. But the budget for the Lionsgate game would be a lot bigger.

In our review of John Wick Hex, IGN gave it a 6.8 and said it was a “simple, smart” strategy game that needed more polish.

Since the first movie in the series, John Wick, came out in 2014, all three of its movies have done well at the box office. In our review, we gave John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum an 8.5 and said it was “packed with clever set pieces and brutal kills.” John Wick: Chapter 4, which has been pushed back almost a year, is also set to come out in 2023.
