John Goodman Weight Loss

Since vowing to “live life better,” John Goodman has shed more than 200 pounds altogether. He recently made his stunning bodily change on the red carpet public. On Sunday, June 18, the actor, who is well-known for his work with the Coen Brothers in movies and television shows like The Righteous Gemstones and Roseanne, was hardly recognisable as he visited the 2023 Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco.

One of the red carpet-pictures was also posted on Mackie Shilstone’s Instagram account. Shilstone was Goodman’s personal trainer and was instrumental in helping the actor with his makeover.

“This didn’t happen overnight — it’s been an ongoing process,” Shilstone told the New York Post after Goodman had lost 100 pounds. “There needs to be strategic planning,” he added. “This time, he really wanted to do it.”

Shilstone pushed Goodman to undertake several lifestyle changes, one of which was a change in food. Goodman adopted a Mediterranean-style diet that included lots of fish, vegetables, fruit, olive oil, and nuts. Goodman also resolved to walk at least 10,000 steps per day and to use an elliptical or treadmill six days a week for exercise.

After reaching a weight of 400 pounds, Goodman made his first commitment to altering his way of life in 2007. He gave up booze as his first action. However, he wasn’t able to maintain his routines and keep the weight off until he began working with Shilstone.

“In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits,” Goodman said. “This time, I wanted to do it slowly. Move, exercise. I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore.”
